...I told my stylist that I wanted my hair blonder and with some reddish highlights and I showed her the examples which we discussed last week, and yet I left with hair that's darker than when I went in?!
Re: How come...
No, there's not really any red either. It looks brown, mostly.
Hey, fancy seeing you here! Nothing like a hair post to find you.
Yeah, I was wondering how it would look after a couple of washes too. She knew that it didn't turn out how I had in mind. She said the color didn't react quite how she expected it to. And she told me to come back next week if I'm not happy with it.
Honestly, it's not a bad color. If I wanted something darker, I would really like it. It's just not what I had in mind.
Oo, that is too bad that the color didn't work out the way it was planned. I'm glad she's cool with you coming back.
May I ask where you go?
Capelli Salon in Eastown. I've actually been really happy with my experience there, so I'll definitely go back.
HA! I've been looking into making an appointment there for a few weeks now. I have their website up right now. That's too funny. I think I'll make an appointment today! Thanks! Do they have any kind of rewards program or anything? Like should I tell them you referred me so you can get some kind of freebee?
Definitely go back! I got my hair done on Tuesday night, and I'm half debating going back. I never seem to like any of my hair cuts and colors anymore. Every time I leave the salon, I leave feeling meh about my hair.
This is what I was going for in color.
It's way more red and dark brown (like an auburn perhaps) than what is pictured here. Maybe my hair didn't take the color like she had hoped though. But I'd say it's a miss.
I know what you mean. I haven't had a good haircut in over a year. I want to love my hair again!
Wop, yes, they do have a referral program. If you give them my name, that would be awesome!
KerCo, sorry to hear that you're having troubles with your hair too! That's a pretty color that you posted. I've been really happy with the cuts that I've been getting lately, it's just the color that I tend to struggle with.
Send me a PM with the information I need to give them. Thanks!

Keri, that sucks! I had the exact thing when I just went in - I wanted blonder (thinking spring!) and it's definitely darker than it was before. Boo. It did lighten up a bit after a few washes, but not enough. I don't really want to go back though, because every time I color it, it feels a little more dry and damaged
Kerri, she definitely missed on your color! I didn't think your hair looked bad yesterday by any means, but it's definitely WAY darker than the picture.
What's up with the dark & dreary hair color experiences in here?!
Yeah, I don't think it's that bad how it ended up, but it's not like the picture at all. I'm kind of afraid to go back - what if it ends up worse? Or what if she can fix it to be like what I posted, and I don't like that either?
Has anyone ever gone back and had their color corrected? I never have (although there have been plenty of times where I have wanted to). The girl on Tuesday was quite adament about me coming back if I didn't like it. She said she would fix it for free and wanted me to be happy, etc. Will she think I'm a PITA? And what's the protocol for something like that? Do you leave a tip for the correction color? I'm thinking yes, but want to make sure. I've never been through this process before.
This is exactly what I'm thinking about mine. Also, I like all of your questions and I'll be curious to see ther esponses.
Ugh. Not fun, ladies. I've had my hair color-corrected before. When I was in school, I went to a local salon, who BUTCHERED my hair. (Uneven hair cut, brassy/highlighter yellow highlights.) I looked awful. Honestly, I didn't trust the stylist who'd done such a cruddy job to fix it, so I went back home to my tried-and-true local stylist. The process took awhile to fix, but I was happy with the results.
In my situation, I paid for the service twice. If it had been my normal stylist, who made a genuine mistake, I'd probably tip for the correction service.
