Oven Setting Off Smoke Alarm
Hi, so this isn't necessarily a cleaning question, but not sure where else I could post it. I moved into a condo apprx 3 months ago. The oven is clean with no visible stains, but whenever I use it above 350 it makes the smoke detectors go off. The food is not burning, but for some reason, the oven begins to get smokey. Anyone else have this problem or and suggestions? Thanks!
Re: Oven Setting Off Smoke Alarm
What type of range is it (gas/electric)?
Is the smoke coming from the actual oven (if you open the door, smoke comes out) or from the vent on top (coil top electric ovens vent through a hole under one of the burners)?

Ours did that in our old apartment. Nothing was wrong. Just the smoke alarm was placed too close to the oven since we had a small galley kitchen.
The smoke thing is a reason for concern. There may be food stuck somewhere.
Pull out the oven racks and give the oven a cleaning (hot water and dishsoap should suffice since there's not major food droppings). Make sure you rinse it well. Wash the oven racks in the sink and put them back in.
That should take care of it. There's probably a tiny spot of food stuck to some random spot... or there's something stuck to one of the oven racks.
