Should I call or let them call me?

On Monday I went for a job interview and went well since I got the job. After my interview I had to go for a physical and drug screening. They told me that once my physical and drug screening they will set up for orientation. Should I call them or wait until they call me to set up the orientation?

  • It might take a bit to get the tests back to the employer.

I would call them Monday of next week or followup with the place that you took the drug test at.

Have you sent a thank you note in the mail?

No I haven't sent a thank you note in the mail. I actually didn't know I was supposed to do that? After my interview though I did thank them for the job opportunity.

  • You don't have to... but it's a nice gesture.
  • Also- If you decide to send a note, I would put it in the mail today so they can get it tomorrow (or Monday if the postal service is slow).
  • An e-mail or thank you card is always nice to send.

But I would wait at least a week before contacting them about the orientation.

  • Depending on how extensive the background check is, it can take up to two weeks to be completed. I wouldn't worry just yet.

I wouldn't worry about sending the thank you note. If they've offered you the job and you've accepted, I just don't think it's necessary. I mean, it's not like they are going to rescind the job offer because you didn't send a thank you.
