DH is putting on his calendar all the job fairs he can find. But he has never attended one. Do yall have an experience with the fairs? What he should take, expect ?(besides alot of people
)
He has alot of faith that more positions will open in his field come mid summer, but he just wants to get in front of people since he has no experience teaching.
Thanks ladies!
Re: s/o Teachers: Job Fairs?
Resumes! That's really it. He'll also need a copy of his certifications. That's pretty much it.
Job-fairs are great ideas. That's how I got my job.
What job fairs is he finding? Our district isn't having their usual one. Anyone know when Region XIII is doing theirs?
Awesome thank you. Thats what he was thinking. Along with a possible few bribe gifts .. kidding. Well maybe.
I think he said Tem ple, but I think thats it so far. He is looking pretty much in the entire state of Texas at this point. And we both looked on the reg XII website and didnt see anything.
Tell him not to be shy. There are so many people at the job fairs that if you don't make your way and introduce yourself then you'll never get noticed. I think it's really the time to sell yourself because they see so many people, you really want them to remember you.
Like pp said, lots of resumes! I'd also say that if he really wants a job bad enough, tell him to offer to sponsor clubs or something. That might help him stand out a little.
GL to him!
I went to the region job fair last June and it was a mad house! I got there 30 minutes early and had to park a half a mile down the road and wait in line just to get into the building. Once we got in, all of the popular districts (RR, LISD, PFL, AISD, etc.) had anywhere from 20-50 people just waiting in line to talk to the represenatives. I was there for nearly 2 hours and only got to talk to 3 districts. They were really overwhelemed. While they were trying to be professional and pay attention to everyone, I could tell that they were just taking my resume and putting in in the huge pile and weren't going to look at it again.
That being said, your husband should have some luck standing out because he isn't female. Any chance he is interested in Elementary? They always want male elementary teachers.
