We bought this glider & ottoman at BRU for $240 before DD was born. It is a nice glider, but I NEVER use it. I always nurse DD in the living room so I can watch TV, or in bed first thing in the morning and before bedtime (so we can nurse side lying). I mentioned this on a "waste of money" post on the Austin board, and someone offered to buy it (no price mentioned).
Might I use this when she gets older and isn't nursing anymore, like for story time or right before bed or something? Or should I sell it? It would be nice to open up the space in the nursery so we could store some toys in there. Plus I could use the $$ to buy more nursing tanks and the fisher price stride to ride dino I've been eying. But, I feel sad letting it go because I always envisioned rocking my baby and reading her a story (she never liked to be rocked, but maybe baby #2 will?).
Re: Do you think I should sell my glider?
I say sell it if you don't use it.
Abe and I use our glider a lot for stories and nursing and just hanging out...but that is just us!
We have a standard rocking chair in Helen's room that we didn't use much when she was a infant but now it gets used every afternoon and night for story time before nap/bed. DD has long since outgrown sitting in my lap but it gives me a spot to sit while I read her stories. DD had a child size rocker that she sits in next to me.
Story time (before nap/bed) on the couch in the living room would never work for us. The living room has a lot of toys in it and it is somewhere she associates with playtime. Moving her into her room, shutting the door, and reading stories is a great way to transition her into quiet time/sleep.
