I got married on 10/6/07 and mainly a lurker on the october 07 knot board. I have to make fun of my SIL's upcoming wedding. I thought you all would appreciate the tackyness of this wedding. I'll start with the invitations. She made her own and I will have to say they looked ok eventhough she is horrible with allignment. What I liked about the invitation was the 5 pieces of plain white paper inserts. On one she had the directions to the rehearsal dinner. On the back of that paper she wrote "you are invited to help set up for the reception at 5:30 at the reception site." On the RSVP card she wrote that only those on the invitation are allowed to come to the wedding unless they are "approved" by the bride or groom. She did not include a envelope with the card because everyone is to email her with the RSVPs. She also included a piece of paper with her registry locations (which inludes walmart). All of these inserts were hand writted which would be fine if she had nice handwriting.
Next I will move on to the reception. It wil be located at a rec center near the church. She and her Fiance will be cooking several lasagnas to serve her 200 guests. the reason for this because she has only $2000 set aside for the food which equals to $10 a person. They will be served on paper plates. Entertainment will be provided by her dad's karakoe equiptment. A friend will be MCing the wedding by pressing play on the various songs. The father daughter dance will be butterfly kisses to be sung karakoe style by two of her brothers. The cake will be baked by her father who has no baking skills. Did I mention that her father sports a curly mullet? T
he ceremony will take place outdoors overlooking a lake. That part will be nice. To cut down on costs she is making the flowers. That would be ok if they were nice fake flowers. Oh no, she is going to michaels and getting the discount flowers. She also mentioned, to me, that she was hoping to keep the bridal party (9 bridesmaids and 9 groomsmen) gifts at under $15 per person. One would think that everything is cheap. Oh no, the tuxs are costing $160 to rent for the day.
To top all of this, her fiance does not have a job or a car. They are currently living at her brother's house because she got kicked out of her dad's house due to her and her fiances lazyness. Her fiance is still is school but is only taking one class online. She works at a theme park in orlando making $11 per hour. So far, they do not have the funds to get an apartment after they get married.
According to her, this is a formal wedding. Her total budget for a 200 guest wedding with 9 bridesmaids and 9 groomsmen is $5000.
