Happy Friday!

This week went by so quickly!  I am so happy it is the weekend.  One of my best friends from college is visiting from New York!  I am super excited.  We have some people coming out this weekend to quote us on fence, and I am hoping to get to Nordstroms for a bra fitting.  What is everyone else up to?

Re: Happy Friday!

  • We're going to CT tomorrow to visit MIL and SIL since DH ended up away on business when they came up 2 weeks ago.

  • Happy Friday! I'm playing in a half day tournament tomorrow, then a bday dinner for my sister on Sunday at Capital Grille--mmm, steak!
I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • Rock, I'm jealous of your Capital Grille trip!

We have nothing going on tonight, we're joining the Y on Saturday afternoon (woohoo gym memberships with childcare!), my sister is sleeping over on Sat night (her wife checked into rehab for alcohol abuse last weekend so she's lonely in the city by herself), Sunday my cousin is coming down from NH for brunch at my mother's (and she has a daughter who is only a few weeks older than J). Busy busy!

  • this week was so much quicker than last week!  We don't really have any plans.  I have to work Sunday night, but other than that I'm hoping to just relax, probably bake a little, and if T stays home from skiing, maybe start some minor work for our kitchen project.

  • I seriously thought Friday would never get here. This week has been sooooooo. loooooong. for me. It doesn't help that work is deadly right now.

My in-laws are coming on Sunday to take us out to lunch for my husband's birthday, to meet our new pooch, and to see our not-so-new-anymore apartment. So tomorrow, I will be cleaning like a maniac.

Rock, I am also jealous of your Capital Grille trip. I could use a delightful dinner. I made beef wellington the other night, but by the time we sat down to eat, I was too exhausted to enjoy it.  So I'm just going to go ahead and live vicariously, k?

Beef wellington always makes me think of Hell's Kitchen and how the contestants can never seem to make it well. I don't have the foggiest idea of how to make any good steaks though, so who am I to judge?

I'm happy to enjoy my meal on your behalf :)

  • Yummm, Capital Grille - so jealous!  When I was 19-20 years old I worked at the Urban Outfitters that is a floor above the Capital Grille on Newbury Street.  We could smell the food in the store and it was such torture!

This weekend DH and I are going to a matinee tomorrow and out to a cheap dinner.  We're trying to save our money for the next few weeks because we're heading to Vegas on April 1st :)

I remember reading an interview with Gordon Ramsay about it the year he stopped including it on the HK menus.  He said that even his kids could make wellington, and he couldn't understand how these donkeys kept screwing it up. I lurve him.

(Full disclaimer - I don't use the GR recipe, as it just reads as super complicated and intimidating.  I use this one instead, which is easy, though not exactly on the same level.)

And thanks for taking one for the team.  Please be sure to enjoy some yummy wine and dessert as part of that effort.  :)

  • DS had me up every hour last night so we are going to be taking a nap here in a short while! We have already been to the grocery store.

I am babysitting one of the dogs from local pit bull rescue for the weekend. He arrives this afternoon. Can't wait to see him again. I haven't seen him since I was pregnant!

Tomorrow night we are having some friends over for dinner. I am going easy and making chicken tortellini with marinara, garlic bread, cesar salad and green beans. And apple pie (that I bought at the bakery).

Sunday- spending the day cuddling with everyone because I leave for 4 days on Monday Sad

Where are you staying while you're here?  Let me know if you can/want to get together after work hours.

  • I don't have an awful lot going on this weekend. I think I might start some spring cleaning/de-cluttering. I need to go see my niece one day because its been a couple of weeks since I've seen her. We're also going to the Home Show in Worcester this weekend so that should be fun!

She's actually in a pretty good place right now. SIL willingly checked herself in after a relapse, which is a huge improvement from the intervention a few months ago. I think the worst part is just that my sister is so lonely, and she lives in the city and we all live way out here.

My thoughts are with your sister and her wife.  I can't imagine how rough that must be.

It's hard for her, I know, but like I said, they're actually both doing very well right now. When SIL checked herself in she was 4 or 5 days sober since the day of the mishap. They're lucky to have the support of SIL's family, who are paying for it (because holy smokes, do you guys know how much rehab costs??) and they're leaps and bounds from her first trip in.

My only experience is from social worker days and those were all state run rehabs. Not the nicest places!

Speaking of medical bills, did you get your hospital statement from giving birth.

    Indifferent

Oh, this is no state run sh!t hole! This is a fancy shmancy, award winning chef, yoga and pilates type place. My sister was joking that she's a little jealous of SIL because minus the therapy, it's like a resort! Haha

My hospital bills were out of control. Between the e c/s then me and LO being in the hospital for a week... Thank god for health insurance (who I *think* we've finally had formula success with also).

Oh and PS crazy cousin is visiting on Sunday so I'll have stories for you Monday!

  • Oh your bill was probably more with the c/s!

Yes, thank god for health insurance.

Can't wait for crazy cousin stories. We should get your crazy cousin and my annoying friend together.

  • Hahaha they would probably love each other! They could just talk babies non-stop! Do you think your friend would be impressed with the world's very best, most perfect baby?

She would. Because my friend is the world's very best, most perfect person, so she can tell your cousin that her baby has something to aspire to...right in front of her.

Wow can you tell I'm still a little irked by last weekend's comment? Wow. I need a chillpill.  I wonder if cows can take those?

I don't know if they can... It could affect your milk production. And that's pretty much all your good for now that you have a kid, right? Hehehe
