Friday Flame Free Confession!

Re: Friday Flame Free Confession!

  • I am so sick of the a-holes I encounter on my commute each day. People just don't know how to drive. I am also sick of the stupid pot holes. Where do my tax dollars go?

I wish sometimes I could just teleport into the office.

    That probably isn't flameful anyway.

    hah!

  • Claire-not flameful, but so true:)

I think some of the towns a friend is looking at homes in are gross, and "bad" towns and I would never live in any of them. I made a snarky comment about one and I know that I hurt her feelings a little. I apoligized and she's too nice to tell me that I hurt her feelings.

on the flip side, another good friend of mine is home shopping and they have a huge budget and are nickel and diming back and forth on this amazing house that I would love to live in. I'm so sick of hearing about how she just wants a good deal and I'm sick of hearing how hard the home search is. When your budget is $600k+ I'm sure you can find something...

  • An old friend on FB asked how she can lose 20 lbs in 2 months. So many people told her to drink slim fast. I added my 2 cents and said calorie count and exercise. I wish more people would educate themselves on healthy ways to lose weight and not look for the easy way out.

  • I don't want to be at work today. Including today I have 7 more days here and I'd rather just not be here at all. It's really hard to be motivated to do any work for a company who let you go!

Plus, I hate waking up super early on Mondays and Fridays to take J to work for 7am.

Amen to this! I hate when patients ask me how they can lose weight. It isn't rocket science people, it's effort. Everyone just wants the magic pill or quick fix. I will prescribe any diet pills (mostly b/c they aren't very safe) but I do suggest Alli which is over the counter.

  • Dh shows me his fb from time to time to see on of his friends wife profile. She is pregnant with their 3rd child. She had and elective ultrasound at 14 weeks and the tech told her she was having a boy. She went to her doctor at 20 and was told 100% it was a girl. Even though they told her at the elective place she was only 60% certain, she was outraged and even talked about suing the place. Now she is 27 weeks or so and is having blood pressure problems. Her doctor told her to cut back on the sodium and when she could rest. Seems like common sense, right? Instead she is saying things on fb such as, "Doritos don't have that much sodium, hahaha!" And taking a picture with her eating them. Someone commented, you might want to lay off the packed/persevered foods for a few more weeks b/c they contain tons of sodium. You would have thought someone called her the B word the way she went off on them and de-friended. First off its just fb, second take care of yourself... I find it comical to read her fb, I don't understand how some people can be so stupid and broadcast their life.
    Married, At Last 09.20.08
  • Last night I had a dream with one of my HS crushs and I still liked him. Granted, I don't know if I was married in the dream or not.
  • I really don't like my job right now, I'm barely doing things and I've read 2 books and starting a third.  I'm really bored and and it's time to move on and get a better paying job and really use my degree I worked so hard for.

Also I need to get it together and find a new job because this one isn't going to be around for long, this is part of the reason I have a bad attitude about it and I know they won't get after me too much because they just want to keep warm bodies around for as long as they can.

A friend of mine has always been uber active and fit.  She's got a degree in high school PE, runs a bunch... yadda yadda.  She met a guy (now her husband) and works for a company (of which I'm convinced is a glorified pyramid scheme) in which they sell "all natural" diet pills, juices, and other concoctions to help people lose weight.  It frustrates me to no end that she's "sold out" on the whole get fit and healthy the right way.

she shouldn't be mad they're wrong! the genitals are barely dropped at that point!! WAY too early to confirm.

I do enjoy idiots on FB from time to time though :)

  • technically we're suppossed to be on a non-essential spending freeze given that we're (sort of) moving and all but I've bought some cloth diaper stuff. all on sale. I'm not suppossed to be buying baby stuff until after 20w either. But sale + we'll use it eventually makes it all Ok right??

CDs are an investment! That's ok, it will be an essential within a matter of months, and if you're saving money now, it's ok to stock up :)

  • I may have spent some of work yesterday looking at strollers online. No, I'm not pregnant. But I think my baby fever is coming back. I had it last spring/early summer and it completely went away this fall between our trip and working moving. I'm glad it's back. Smile

I have 5 weeks of vacation time saved (plus 4 weeks sick time), but I can't bring myself to just take time off just because even though I need it. The reason? Because we don't get any paid maternity leave and even though I'm not pregnant, nor plan to be pregnant within at least the next year, I still want to hold on to it just in case.

  • I'm kind of annoyed that B scheduled the install of FiOS yesterday and then insisted on working from home so he could be the one to make the decisions with the installer (ok, I was ok with that second part).  I am on spring break, and P was at daycare because we pay for it if he goes or not, and can't exchange days.  I was looking forward to doing something for me, but he was all in my space. So I cleaned and did laundry all morning and then decided to quilt the rest of the day.

Of course, the guy didn't come until 2 even though they were scheduled to send someone between 8 and 12 (apparently people called out sick because of the heavy rain), and because it was a full install with the cables and everything, he was here until after 7.  I felt it was rude to make dinner when he was still here so I didn't get it started, although now that I think about it, I should have been more worried about feeding my kid.  So we ended up getting takeout, which we were trying to avoid.  We've been doing it 1-2 times/week for months (yeah for 30% off night!) and I've been wanting to cut it out.   Oh well.

    how much can you roll?

i don't see anything wrong with this as long as you're not burning it. I could roll 24 days vac (90 sick) at my last job (I think it is 20 and unlimited here).

also, another confession sorta - I am a little sad I need to use sick time for doc appt here. I get 12 days/yr and can take partials so its not a big deal, but I'm still bummed. I never had to do that at my last job. I also can't work from home here. No one can. I have no clue why and it annoys me.

ETA: Jo, take a couple of mental health days. It'll be worth it :)

  • I've been finding it really hard to stick to our grocery budget lately, I use coupons when I can (which isn't much because most of what we buy is fresh ) do bountiful baskets which makes our produce cheaper , shop sales and STILL go over budget.

It doesn't help that DH loves milk and we drink organic , Bulk items at sprouts were 25% off at the beginning of the month so I stocked up but that also put a large dent in the budget, though we will use it for more than a month.

ugh. I know it doesn't solve everything but I wish we made more money....though I should be happy that DH has a job and a good one in this economy.

Also, I think GOOD teachers should get paid more.

I feel like prices must have been going up recently. Even when I don't buy much I seem to spend as much as I used to for more food like a year ago.

  • I am so bored at work today. We have 5 patients and 1 is leaving soon. Plus 2 nurses and a social worker. The doctor has seen everyone and I have nothing to do! And want to go home today

ETA: Jo, take a couple of mental health days. It'll be worth it :)

I get 22 vacation days per year. At 5 years service I get 25 days per year. We can bank up to two years worth of vacation time. I get 12 sick days per year and can bank an unlimited number. I also get 3 floating holidays and 3 personal days each fiscal year, which are use it or lose it. I always use those first. If I leave, I can extend my last day with the vacation time only (so, basically a payout). The sick time gets counted for retirement purposes. So, another confession is that I want to use my sick time first (even for scheduled vacation) because they don't mean much to me since I chose not to participate in the traditional pension system. It's kind of just a big pot of PTO here, but I still feel guilty doing it.

Side note: I know I get a ton of PTO, but it's justified because our base pay rates are substantially less than other comparable public and private jobs.

  • I'm not a big shopper usually, but I have a super strong urge to go on a shopping spree.  New books!  New clothes!  New shoes!  Manicure!  Pedicure!  The sad part is I probably do need new clothes and new shoes. Embarrassed
  • I have been spending way too much time at work lately planning Maddy's 1st birthday and playing on the nest.

  • I had been good about not going to Target and spending a lot of money on things I didn't really need.  I'd been avoiding going to Target at all actually.  Then last Saturday, I was home alone and finally didn't have to work.  I spent over $300. Basically negating the whole month prior when I rarely went.
