The bird us the word.... No really. The 8.9 earthquake and resulting tsunami in Japan. Warnings all along the west coast. I spent almost 3 months in Japan in 2004 and have been to some of the places they are mentioning on the news. Shocked.

    I've been alternating between the live feed in Hawaii and Japan since I got to work. I can't believe some of the videos from Japan, I really just can't imagine what that must be like and what those people are going through.

    so scary.  i have family in HA, obviously tons of friends and family on the coast of ca (not so worried about them), and most worrisome is a dear friend in taiwan...i'm having a hard time finding out what is going on with taiwan right now as most reports are all about hawaii...

    I have heard about what has happend I haven't seen or read anything yet. So sad. T&P's defiently go out to everyone involved

    But seriously - it's just tragic.  Makes you realize how small we really are compared to mother nature.  Amazed at the magnitude of the natural disasters that have struck around the world in recent months.

    Fourth Anniversary
    So scary.  My work friend's son just went to Japan about 6 mo. ago as an intelligence officer in the Navy.  She said he called at 12:30 this morning to let her know he was safe, thank god.

    I have family in Japan (2nd, 3rd and 4th cousins, my grandma's only living relatives) but luckily they are a few hundred miles away from where the epicenter is. So devastating to see photos and hear about the # of people missing and dead.

    I have an aunt in San Francisco, so I'm glad they weren't seriously affected there.  It was pretty scary for awhile there when they issued a tsunami warning for the west coast.  My heart goes out to the people of Japan and everyone who was directly impacted by the earthquake and the tsunami.

    Two boys I went to high school with are currently living in Japan and studying abroad.  People have been trying to contact them on facebook but we haven't heard anything yet.  I'm hoping they're ok. 

     

    Kaz - I am praying for your family.  I wish them peace and safety.
