Japan's earthquake and tsunami
Has anyone been watching the coverage on this? It is absolutely devastating to see and the video of the people trying to outrun the water in the cars makes my stomach turn. I can't even imagine being there and I know other countries are on warning as well. Mother Nature needs to chill the f- out!

Re: Japan's earthquake and tsunami
Agreed. This is insane. Derek and I both have our alarms set to new radio (mostly for the traffic report) and I remember hearing first thing about the quake.
One of my friends from HS is doing the JET program. He's in the south (Kobe) and posted to FB that he didn't even know anything had happened until they saw the news.
The BBC is streaming coverage here.
We'll just not tell H about this little fact, m'kay?
I've been watching the BBC coverage off and on all day and it's so scary. Lots of thoughts go out to everybody affected.

Been watching coverage and it is devastating. Also keeping an eye on Hawaii as we have friends and colleagues there; very happy that the warning was lifted for Guam and CNMI. A friend posted a picture of the water level in Guam a while ago--pretty scary stuff.

Watching the cars was the most disturbing for me. I wish I could just separate myself from it and think that maybe the passengers made it. I'm just hoping and praying for the people in Japan and throughout the world that are affected by this.
I have friends in the area hit (north of Tokyo - FWIW, Kobe/Kyoto/Osaka aren't anywhere near the affected area - they felt the quake, but everything is okay there with the exception of the power outage) that I still haven't heard from. I've tried calling, but phone service is down. Now, I'm just on FB watch hoping they appear.

LesPaul, a few friends in Guam have already told me they have an all-clear. There's a lot of high ground there, so there are places to evacuate to, but from what I hear there was some receding water and minor waves, nothing major. I hope you hear from him soon.
Alyson, I hope you hear from your friends soon and that they are all safe. I thought of you when I heard this.
My mom is in Taiwan visiting family, but from what I've read, they seem to be out of danger.
This was my exact thought. kaesha, I definitely thought of you first thing this morning. I hope that you hear from your friends soon.
