What would you think of this?

I had my interview on Wednesday. The first lady covered benefits with me. (They kick butt from my perspective because I've never had anything except a week of vacation.)

The second lady gave me an updated list of job duties and covered those with me. It's basically data entry from what I can tell. She asked if I knew Word and Excel; of course, I do. She talked about the environment, hours, and start date a bit. She didn't ask any other questions, except to ask if I'd like a tour of the plant. I accepted of course. After the quick tour, she let me know she'd be in touch late this week or early next week and signed me out.

My dad said that he heard they only give tours to top candidates. My H thinks I'm just going to get the job. I'm freaked out because they didn't ask me anything!

What thinks the DM Nesties?

Re: What would you think of this?

  • They didn't ask you any questions at all?  None?

Yeah I guess you have a pretty good chance.

From a HR perspective it would be hard to prove that you chose the best candidate by asking everyone the same questions, but... anyway weird. lol!

    Yeah good luck!! Sounds positive.

  • None besides if I knew Word and Excel! Well, she asked if we planned to move to Creston and why (DM address on resume). But that's it!

I'm glad you think it sounds positive!!

  • 2 out of the three jobs I have had in the metro I had interviews like that. One interview the lady told me I 'had a friendly smile' and asked when I could start; I was hired on the spot. The second one they asked questions, but it was REALLY casual and they showed me around and I left. I was home for about an hour and they called and offered it to me. The other job I held was a nannying job, so I think it is obvious why they asked a lot of questions and it took them a while to get back to me so they could run a background check. I would say it was a positive interview and I hope you got the job :-)
  • I know this one requires a background check. For a factory, it's pretty high security. (Nearly 80% of their finished product is for the military though so it makes sense.)

Hopefully that's the only reason she didn't call back immediately!

  • Sounds very promising!  They took the time to give a tour when they could have just moved along with the day.  What did you think of the job?  Nice to get an improvement in benefits, too. One week vacation in your previous position is hardly worthy of being called a benefit, lol!  Good luck!  When are you moving?

  • As far as I understand, it's a data entry job basically. So pretty easy and much less stress than where I am now. It will be a very fast paced environment, which is great! Keep me off of here when I should be working! Wink

Umm...well, the move is much more complicated. H starts his new job on Monday so he'll be crashing at his dad's or grandparents. I gave a 6 week notice here (April 9), but if I'm offered this position, it starts March 21.

We haven't found a place to live there yet, but are looking. H is actually looking at a rental right now. Otherwise, we are in the middle of a loan approval if we have to go that route. Our lease is up April 30 here so one way or another, we'll have to have everything out of DM!
