Gate River Run

I've seen several of you mention this, and I've seen ads here and there, and was wondering how big a deal it is? I know nothing about it, enlighten me?

Re: Gate River Run

  • It a pretty big deal. It's the largest 15k in the country. Definitely the biggest race for Jax of any races.

  • It's bigger than a lot of marathons, for that matter!

  • which is why they need to have corrals based on previous race finishing times. it's a clusterfluck for the first few miles... ugh. and/or have a cutoff for participants registered.

love the river run for the distance and course, but HATE the jampacked first few miles.

True! That's actually what I don't really like about it though. I feel like in most places, the course route is too narrow to support that many runners. I was very frustrated last year trying to weave in & out. (The San Diego marathon I ran had over 30k people and was never that crowded.) I was excited because I could have been seeded for the River Run this year, but then I decided not to run.
