I hate the maintenance men upstairs.

I have hated them ever since they started renovating in January, but this tops the cake.  They just started throwing sh!t out of the second story window onto the yard behind my porch.  HEAVY boxes, scrap metal, etc.  They didn't rope anything off, there is no one standing on the ground monitoring it, and there is no way they could have seen me if I had been stepping out from my porch - or the kid next door who is constantly running around (and was actually on my porch earlier this morning).  Here is a pic so far (I snuck the camera between the blinds):

Good thing our car wasn't parked out there, or I'd be SCREAMING at them.  fcukwads.

  • Is it even legal?  I feel like I'm over-reacting because they piss me off on a daily basis, but it seems SO DANGEROUS.

  • I don't think you are over-reacting. They would be scrrewed royal if they hit someone. If I was the mother of the little boy who lives next to you I would be raising some serious issues with this.

  • They're doing this in an apartment complex where many people live? That is a huge no no. I'd get on the phone to the management office and if it doesn't cease I'd be calling the police.

  • If I were working there (as in as a construction worker) I'd call OSHA. I don't know what outsiders are allowed to do because OSHA is supposed to be for workers. Still, there ARE standards for those sort of things (disposing of waste and proper receptacles and methods, etc). You'd think as a former construction worker, I could help more.

  • I called the maintenance office, no one picked up so I left a message.  That's not uncommon because it's small and they're often out showing apartments.  They're done, and they've cleaned it up, so I don't think it warrants calling the police but we'll see how the leasing center responds.

These aren't our normal maintenance people, they contracted out for this job and the leasing center has apologized profusely for how they've behaved.  Whenever I complain they fix the issue but something else comes up; the lady at the leasing center basically told me that she's been petitioning not to use this company again and she's pretty sure they won't.

  • This is making me very angry the more I think about it. I cannot tell you how many times I had to ream out guys for doing that. Seriously. Rope an area off with caution tape. Put together a garbage chute. Get a god damn dumpster. WTF. I HATE it when people try to take short cuts with safety.

This was what I was thinking!  There's constantly construction going on in the city/on campus, and that's how they handle this.  I don't know if they just figured that since it's during the day, most people are at work, or something?  But there are a ton of SAHMs and small children in our complex.
