I'll admit, I spend more money than I should at Starbucks (I'll recently I've stopped/decreased).
So 4 wks ago, I used to get a coffee from Starbucks in my office building every morning. The workers knew my order (that I bring my own cup and get a few ice cubes in it) and life was grand.
Then the store close for 2 wks for a remodel. It reopened last week and SUCKS balls. Complaint #1- They took away the seating. Granted the store before just had 3 chairs at a bar-like rail, but still they were always occupied and I liked them, now gone.
Complaint #2: If you have a registered gift card or gold card to Starbucks you can buy bagged coffee beans/grounds and get a free tall drink, sweet. So I went to do this last week, all excited for a "free" chai and found out they don't tell bagged coffee (or anything other than drinks and pastry items) at this location anymore. Boo.
Complaint #3: Yesterday I went down to get an afternoon pick me up, a Chai Tea Misto (Chair tea bag w/part water, part steamed milk...1/2 the price of a chai latte) and found out they no longer have Chai tea-bags at this location. WTF
Complaint #4: Okay, I think, lets give it another shot, I'll get a Green-Tea latte. "Sorry miss, we don't carry the machu (not sure if that's right word) powder for the green-tea anymore at this store"..Me "really? and this is after you told me yesterday that you don't have chai tea bags either" Clerk: "Uh-oh", Me: "help the next person, I need to think about it" and I walk out.
I wrote an email to Starbucks yesterday and surprisingly they wrote back in less than 24 hours saying they valued my information and would talk with the store manager. So I wrote back today saying I have another disappointment to add to my list.
Thank you for reading. I know this is stupid and it's just a caffinated drink, but I really used to love that Starbucks and all of the works and now it seems like I'm endlessly frustrated everytime I enter!!
Re: I hate my "new" Starbucks-vent
I rarely go to SBux, but I love their chai tea late and caramel macchiato (how ever the hell that is spelled! lol)
It sounds like it must be a licensed store (not company operated), because those are not decisions that a company-operated store would make. As you know, I'm a DM for Sbux, and just so happen to be with the licensed store business unit (except I do work for the company, where licensed store baristas do not). Anyway, all of that to say that several of your complaints are just a part of the decisions that the licensed store has the freedom to make. And it sucks and I am so sorry! But fortunately, you shared one that is not. They must carry matcha powder. Green tea lattes are one of our core drinks so they are required to carry them. PM or FB me with the location of the store and I will touch base with their DM.
So sorry you've had some bad experiences there! Hopefully they'll get everything fixed soon.
Erin, I didn't realize that! I'll PM you with the store's address.
If they're a licensed store, is that similar to Starbucks in interstate Oasis stops and/or in Barnes and Nobles? As I've noticed stores at both of those places don't accept gold or gift cards. My store does though. I'll PM ya! Thanks

Some licensed stores do accept both gift cards and gold cards. They are not required to, but many they have the option. However, in looking at our database it looks as if that might actually be a company-operated store. I have an e-mail in to my company-operated peer to ask him if they discontinued matcha powder, but I have never heard of them not carrying something that we still do. My gut tells me that they happened to be out of it that day and your barista was uninformed and unhelpful. *sad face* I'll let you know if I find out differently though.
Oooh - this whole exchange is very exciting. lol
BTW, since you're here Erin, what temp do they steam "children's drinks" at? Because my prefered temp is only slightly above that and I never can remember what it is. I'm a wimp.

You can request a certain temp?!?!?! I always have to let my hot beverages sit for like 20 minutes before I can drink them, and I am NOT a patient person! lol I think I
you, Tisha.
Okay, I heard back from my friend. Company-operated has NOT discontinued matcha powder, so all green tea drinks should still be orderable. I'd give them a week to get their next shipment in and if they still do not have it then call 1-800-STARBUC again and ask that they have the district manager call you. It's just ridiculous to not have product in your store to make a core beverage.
Kid's drinks are steamed to 130 degrees. You might try 140 to start with and adjust it from there. If you don't specify a temp then they are supposed to steam it anywhere from 160-170 degrees.
What about Chai-tea bags? Do those vary by store?

140 is my temp! That's it! That's perfect for me. I just can't ever remember what it is. lol But that's totally it.

Yeah, I thought that company-operated was supposed to carry Chai tea bags but I'm not 100% certain. There are 8 of the 12 types of tea that are required, and the other 4 are optional. I can't remember for sure whether Chai is one of the ones required or not.
