Not to be nosy, but I was wondering how Piper's family is doing. I still think about them all the time.

And how are you doing after your series of heartbreaks?

Thank you for asking, its sweet that you are thinking of us! Piper's parents are doing really well. The fact that they were able to donate her organs has been a big help to them, I think. They are actually gearing up to do a 5k walk/run as part of the Donor Network. It was hard, but getting back into a routine and back to work I think helped a lot.

I'm doing okay. Being pregnant and emotional makes it harder and I still have days where I cry unexpectedly, but being pregnant and having Sophia has also kept me going. We'll be using Piper and my dad's middle name (Jean/Gene) for this little guy and that has helped me heal as well, knowing that we are passing a part of them on. We are planning on surprising my mom with that little fact on delivery day, too, which will be amazing. My biggest challenge right now is just the heartbreak of knowing my dad won't be at the hospital this time around. This is only the third grandson on my side of the family out of 20-some grandkids so its extra special. I know that he is watching over all of us, but the selfish part of me still hurts, of course.

Your dad will be there and continue to see your LO's just not how you want him to. I know the feeling. My dad passed a year before I got married. Knowing they are watching over is a definite comfort, but it is hard not to wish they were here to hold their grandchildren. Big hugs!
