When is your musical going on - or did it already happen?  I've been thinking about you.  We had dress rehearsal all week, and we opened tonight.  I have to say, this is one of the best shows we've done in a while.  Opening night was great, and the whole thing has been so much fun!  We have two more performances this weekend and two next weekend.

I hope yours is going/went well.  I think you're doing Guys & Dolls, right?  We're doing Footloose.  Break a leg!

  • Hi Bubs!

We open in just under 2 weeks.  We gave the kids today off (we needed it too!), but it's going well.  Of course, I've just jinxed myself having said that, lol, but in all honesty, it's coming together.  Act 1 just looks so...natural.  Like it's not even a play, but that we're witnessing real life, which THRILLS me.  Act 2 just needs a little more time since we did it later, but that's the one thing that makes me a bit nervous, since time is the one thing we're running out of.  We are doing Guys and Dolls, and the kid playing Sky is getting on EVERYONE'S (including the cast and crew!) nerves, but only he can tone that down.

My sets look AMAZING - the two parents who are doing them are either art teachers or professional artists, and my set was designed by an engineer and was assembled by several parent volunteers.  I've been very lucky.  I also have FANTASTIC kids on my stage crew to the point where my scene changes are taking place with the curtain open, in the dark - something that hasn't happened at this school in the last 10 years.  Yay!

I have three dress rehearsals, on the 19th, 21st, and 22nd.  We have staff development on the 23rd, so I can't call the kids in, the elementary performance is on the 24th, we open to the public on the 25th, and close the next day. I do enjoy it - but I also think I'll be very happy once it is done to have my life back!

RIP Dr. Irving Fishman - 10/1/19-7/25/10 - thank you for holding on for me.
You made my wedding day complete.
