Dyson ball question

Hi!  Looking for a new vacuum.  My view on it is "Go big or go home".  lol.  I don't like the idea of buying a new vacuum every year or so.

I see you girls had some great things to say about the Animal Ball one.  How does it do on tile or hardwood floors?  We have a mix of carpet, tile and hardwood in our house.

ETA:  Oooh i didn't realize that they were $550.  I might look into the compact ball version.  it's still pricey, though.

Re: Dyson ball question

  • Our Dyson Animal Ball does pretty well on our tile. We've been really happy with it. Regarding the price, I'd try to find it on sale somewhere. We got ours from Lowe's around Black Friday for 30% off. The total was around $400 including tax.
  • So far, so good on our tile as well.  There's a button to turn off the brush so that it just sucks stuff up, which is handy for grout lines.

Ditto PP about sales.  We got ours 20% off from Sears.  I believe you can use Bed, Bath, & Beyond coupons on them as well, which are also 20% off.  The part that sold me was the 5 year warranty, so the price pays off if you're not buying a new one every year!  I've heard of people having great success with refurbished as well, which tend to be half the price.

  • We have the DC 25 ball but it is not the animal version. We have 2 cats and 1 dog that shed like crazy and it sucks up everything from tiles, wood and carpet. No complaints here! The non animal version was about $100 less in price, so that may be a way to save some money.
  • Thank you ladies!  I actually just picked one up.  I had a 30 percent coupon from Kohls, so I got the full size one for 420 plus tax.  Plus I got $80 Kohls cash!  I am so psyched!

great buy! We've had ours for 6 years (in May) and it still works like the day we got it. Well worth the investment.

  • Our Dyson crapped out after five years. We were told that it would be $140 to fix it.

We decided to get an Oreck to replace it.

I agree that by spending more you can get a better vacuum, but don't think you won't have to replace it.
