Okay the first house is the shape of our house basically but I am going for more of the look of house 2 (not so countryish)....... I like gray or like a sage green siding...dh is more a fan of the green. Think a sage green? But then I want stone (i compromised with no brick.boo.), so what color of stone would you say? and circle or rectangled stone? The stone will be on the part that sticks out on the door and the big window above? Or do you think that would be too much stone? I was thinking the green siding with a tan/white trim?? with grey stone....
Any of that make sense?
Also I love the big spindles on the front porch...think that would look alright or no?
Re: Help me pick siding color....
I basically agree with hound on colors. If you do green, definitely do tan stone and white trim.
But if you do grey, I'd go with a stone color that is more of a grey/taupe color, and white trim. Then to prevent it from looking like the house is in greyscale (haha), throw in some color with the shutters, maybe a maroon? (see pic)
I much prefer the rectangle stone, personally, but the round ones could work too. As for the spindles, I think that is a tough one... they're much more traditional/country, while you seem to be going for more of a craftsman/modern style. You can probably pull it off if you really like them that much, but it might be tough to make it look right. I do think (though I'm not quite sure why?) that the round stones would be more appropriate with the spindles.
Sooo exciting!
