Moisture in window panes

So asked my DH to clean the windows in the LR for me and he took them in the bathroom and turned on the shower, which in turn the heavy storm window ended up developing some moistere between the panes of glass! Has this happened to any of you before? Is there a way to have this cleaned (maybe a professional window cleaner?) or do we have to replace the whole stinkin window now?

Re: Moisture in window panes

  • Most likely the water got in between the panes of glass, which means the seal was broken. Sorry to tell you that now that the seal is broken, you will continue to get condensation in between the two panes of glass. If the storm window is fairly new, take it back to where you got it and ask if they can do anything.
  • We have the same problem with one of those half moon-shaped windows above our regular windows in the dining room.  The seal is broken and must have been for some time before we moved in 6 months ago.  You will have to have the seal replaced, which should run you a couple hundred dollars (possibly a little less).

We rent and our LL doesn't really care to have it fixed.  It bugs us because it makes the window look really dirty, and it's at the front of the house for everyone to see.  Our neighbors probably think we're dirty people or something.

I was thinking of putting some of that frosted window film on it to try and hide it.

  • we have the same problem. I'm leaving the decision up to DH but, we "heard" (ie:probably read on the internet somewhere) that if a small hole is drilled into/near the window pane ... the condensation can escape and dry up... not sure how this is done. In the mean time, we put frosted plastic window covering on the window so it looks like we just want privacy. good luck!
