Anyone had a hanging mole removed?

I've had a hanging mole/skin tag in my armpit forever.  Occasionally my bra would rub it wrong and it would hurt.  But lately it hurts all the time, even when I'm just wearing a shirt and no bra to bother it.

I did some googling and there are home remedies for getting rid of it, but I think I'd feel better about seeing a dermatologist.

Just wondering if anyone has any experience to share?  I'm not worried about a scar, as I'd rather just have the dang thing gone.

Re: Anyone had a hanging mole removed?

  • I have one that I need to get removed just haven't gotten around to it...  My sister did have one pretty close to the same spot.  Her bra bothered it a lot and she had cut it a couple times when shaving.  She had it removed and said it was a very simple process.  I think it hurt a little but she said it was totally worth it.

  • I have moles removed all the time. Mine aren't hanging but I can tell u it's a very simple process. Prob won't even require stiches. The only thing that hurts a tiny bit is the needle for the numbing medicine. When u see the doc, make sure u tell them it hurts so insurance will cover the removal :)

same here. you don't even feel it. what will be left will be just a nick that they'll cover with a band aid. you might want to keep that on while it heals so your bra doesn't rub the scab off.

That sounds about as bad as the home remedies I found.  Like tying a string/floss around it to cut off the blood flow then a couple days later until the mole falls off!

No thanks, I'll leave it to the specialist.

  • my dad was doing the same thing to his age spots on his face. he called it "personal surgery". i was so gagged out i made him see my dermatologist.

  • ughh, those are the pitts!  No punn....

I had one several years ago in a similiar spot with the same issues....it eventually just disappeared one day....maybe i shaved it off...Huh?  but that seems to be a typical spot for them....

Pearl had one on her front leg/elbow and the vet lopped it off for me - she explained you have to get it at the "stalk" if you don't want it to grow back.

Supposedly it's not painful, she carterized the spot after so it wouldn't bleed.

Pup is doing fine!  Well, whatever you decide, at least it's not supposed to be painful..gd luck!
