toddler bed/crib question

Hi all,

For those of you who have moved your LO to a bed, is it better to buy the crib converter (which is $200 for the converter with guard rail, plus the additional cost of a mattress) or just to buy a twin bed (I don't think they have to have a head and base board, do they?)?

We bought the crib from NFM and just ordered the converter over the weekend, just to make sure they didn't discontinue.

TIA

Re: toddler bed/crib question

  • I plan on doing the toddler bed w/ the crib change, or whatever it's called  LOL then going to a twin/full size bed. I agree, you don't HAVE to have a headboard.
  • Sorry, I don't have an answer for you, but I do have a question.

When is the average age to move your toddler to a toddler bed?

I can't answer for myself, but when my youngest nephew started climing out of his crib. that was a big indicator for my sister to move him to a bed. LOL

  • About 18 months we converted Will's crib to a daybed thing.  The front came off, and switched it out for a little bed rail.  Then last month we moved him to his new room, with a twin mattress on the floor, at 27 months.  Our crib will eventually convert to a full bed for one of the boys.  Eventually we plan on getting a bedrame for the twin bed, but it's not in the budget right now, and he seems find sleeping on the floor.  We're contemplating bunk beds...

  • We just moved Michael into his big boy bed this weekend because he was taking nosedives out of his crib and his poor face couldn't take anymore! :o(

Michael is sleeping in a twin bed. We are planning on using our crib for baby #2 and we already had a daybed with trundle in our guestroom downstairs so we just brought it upstairs are using it for Michael.

So far it's working....I think? I usually lay down with him on the trundle until he falls asleep and so far he's napped and slept in there just fine. He's been waking up at the normal time and then we'll either hear him cry or playing in his room.

  • Natalie is almost 2 and is still in her full crib.  She hasn't tried to climb out of it yet, so I don't plan on changing it until absolutely necessary!  We will move her to a full size bed eventually.
