S/O Politics

Are you and DH registered as the same party? Do you tend to agree or disagree when it comes to politics?

Re: S/O Politics

  • DH & I are both register NPA, so yes.

We agree for the most part. It's nice.

  • I'm not registered to any party.  I get sad about this only when I want to vote in a primary for a candidate I really support, but can't.

DH is registered for the party who's platform he usually doesn't vote with.  He registered this way back at the age of 18 and never bothered to change it.

We agree on most political issues.

  • I actually just submitted the form to change my party affiliation to NPA.  Crying

DH is already no party.  We agree on most things only because he doesn't really care that much.

  • Neither of us are registered.

We don't talk about politics much because he doesn't spend too much time reading about what's going on, but when it comes to bigger issues (abortion, education, capital punishment, immigration) we seem to be on the same page.

    Indifferent

You mean registered with a party, right?  Not not registered to vote?

  • I am registered Independent, I believe.

I am not sure of DH's political affiliation.  We don't tend to discuss politics.

Right. We both vote, just not along party lines.

ETA: I like stickers... they're my motivation to go to the poll. DH always mails his in, if possible.

  • I'm NPA officially, but I'm very liberal. DH is registered democrat.

My theory was that if I was NPA I wouldn't get harrassed by anyone.......... except lately I've been getting republican mailings. sooo mebbe it's time to change that.

  • We are not registered to the same party. DH is techinically a registered independent, but he is the absolute definition of a Republican.

We disagree on almost everything politically. We tried to vote together once and spent the time in line trying to change each other's minds. It can turn into an argument really quick, so we try not to discuss politics.

  • We are both registered Republicans, but DH is far more conservative than I am.

This exactly. We've learned not to discuss politics in much detail because it ends badly 90% of the time.

  • I'm registered NPA and I think H is too. We rarely talk about politics but usually have the same views.

  • We're both registered the same.

Typically before an election he and I disagree. For some reason he almost always accuses me of being a party liner, at which point I explain my reasons for voting for a particular person in detail. Then he ends up voting for that person also. This happens every election.

I'm pretty sure when I met him, he introduced himself with "Hi, I'm Tara's DH & I'm a Republican."

I once turned down a date like that. It was a fellow classmate when I was working towards a masters, and he had the sexiest voice ever, omg. But he was also a very heavy campaigner for Gore and made it part of his persona. He was like, "So, you want to get some sushi some time?" I said, "I'd love to, but you know I'm a Republican, right?" He was like, "....Oh.... really? I guess we can work around that." I said, "Really? Come on." And then he agreed. lol

My mom is as liberal as liberal can be. She was shocked that I married a Republican! Anything I say now that even leans toward the conservative side of things, she blames on DH. The first time she came over to his house, he had a Bush sticker on his garage door. She said to me "You're going to get him to take that down, right?"
