Restaurant Recommendation

A group of 6 of us are going out for dinner Friday night.  We are coming from Lakeville, Burnsville, Edina, and *** Rapids.  We need a place that's in between and $10-15/person.  We don't really want to go downtown because we don't want to deal with the cost of parking.  We also want to avoid any St. Patrick's day crowds.

Suggestions?  Oh and one of the group is a pretty picky eater and doesn't like ethnic foods...

Re: Restaurant Recommendation

  • We just went to Tavern on France in Edina. Their beer selection leaves MUCH to be desired (Seriously. Miller Light, Coors Light, MGD Light... plus 2-3 other beers) but the food was really good - better than I expected. We shared the BBQ Chicken Flatbread Pizza which was awesome. Also shared the Corned Beef Sandwich - it was fantastic! It was busy in there - it seems like a popular after work place. It's reliable in the Granite City/Jakes City Grille/American pub sort of way.

  • Pepito's or Busters in South Minneapolis are two of my favorites.

  • I recommend Pinstripes in Edina.  That place has great food and you could bowl or play bocce ball as well.  It also has a great atmosphere.

  • Prairie Ale House in Eden Prairie. It's pretty easy to get to. The old owner and chef from the Town Talk Diner opened this place when they sold it, and it's pretty good. Not as good as the Town Talk was, but there are some interesting things on the menu and it's the kind of place that anyone could find something to enjoy.

  • I second the Tavern on France.  Do call ahead seating, especially if you have a group!  We've had to wait on a week night there for just 2 of us!  I think they will let you call 30 mins in advance but double check that.

Also, look into getting the Tavern card if you think you'll go back.  I forget all the benefits but I know you get 20% off all your food and some reward points too!  They had them for $10 I think (right when they opened) so we almost paid for it in our first visit!

I would go there every week if it was closer to where I live.  I love their build a burger...I am picky so that allows me to get exactly what I want on it without feeling like a pain ordering something on the menu and then making changes!

Another suggestion is Jake's in Eden Prairie...similiar to Tavern on France.  They also do either reservations or call ahead seating.

  • Thanks ladies!!  We ended up choosing Tavern on France, looking forward to it!
