For those who have had braces-HELP
I having braces put on my teeth April 11. What all kinds of foods do I need to stock up on besides yogart and ice cream? From what I have read you won't be able to chew much the first couple of weeks after having them put on.

Re: For those who have had braces-HELP
Well, lucky me, I have had them twice and am considering them a third time.
The first night REALLY REALLY REALLY SUCKS!! but gets substantially better after that - I don't foresee you needing to only eat yogurt for two weeks straight or anything like that. I remember eating ice cream the first night (who can complain about that?) but was fine after that. To be honest, chewing on stuff makes them feel a little bit better - I got a baby teething ring and would chew on that after I had my braces tightened - that would really help.
And tylenol!
A 3rd time! WOW so you maybe my braces "go-to person." If you don't mind telling me why do you plan to go again-did the 1st and 2nd time not straighten your teeth enough or is it something other than that?
Thanks for the info I will rememeber the teething ring and now I am glad I won't be living off of yogart and ice cream for a couple of weeks.
That is great news. I do however plan to eat very soft foods for atleast the first week or two just to be cautious. Thanks for the info Jamie.
I would also stock up on OTC pain killers, as well. Cold foods sometimes make the metal cold, and makes your teeth hurt, just an fyi.
My front teeth were more tender than the molars, so chewing wasn't bad; it was biting into things (pizza, burgers, etc.) that was most painful.
I def plan to stock up on OTC pain killers. Thanks for the fyi's also.
I think I have high tolerance to pain because they didn't hurt ever.
When I had my wisdom teeth out, I just took tylenol for the pain, not the powerful stuff, and I was told I was too active right after I had surgery.
I didn't even price invisalign-I have heard way to many stories abotu peoples teeth moving back after they are done wearing them. BUT it could be that they didn't wear them enough during the day or something like that.
I am just going with the old fashion metal ones and do know there are a few things they tell you to stay away from.
What do you mean that's the wrong side? Tastes great to me!
Yes! Wear the rubber bands! If you don't, you'll just have to keep your braces on longer!
