AMA: Aegis

Today's Ask Me Anything is featuring Aegis.

Is there anything you miss about MA, besides maybe some good Chowda & the Christmas Tree Shop?

Hahaha to chowda and Christmas Tree Shops :)  I spent the first 33 years of my life in MA, so I think I'll always be a New England girl at heart.  The biggest thing I missed this past fall was the leaves changing.  I did not miss all the shoveling we would have been doing.

Because you mentioned chowda, I worked in a seafood restaurant all throughout high school and college.  I love the smell of chowder, but don't enjoy eating it.  The texture of clams has always skeeved me out.

  • Where in MA are you from?

How did you meet your H? And is he a born & raised New Englander too?

What is your favorite thing about your new house?

And this isn't a question, but I was going to tell you we almost went to the game on Sunday, but there weren't 3 seats available, and Beckett is too old to not have his own seat. I guess we'll just have to wait until they play the Rays in a regular season game now.

Where in MA are you from?  I grew up in Hamilton, which is on the North Shore.  In my early 20's I lived in different towns around the North Shore until I moved in with DH, and we lived in Natick (metro-west)

How did you meet your H? And is he a born & raised New Englander too?  I met my husband on eHarmony.  He grew up all over the place (Illinois, Conneticut, Minnesota, back to Connecticut, and then Massachusetts).  His dads job kept transferring him.

What is your favorite thing about your new house? Not hearing people upstairs or next door.  I've had my share of crazy neighbors.

And this isn't a question, but I was going to tell you we almost went to the game on Sunday, but there weren't 3 seats available, and Beckett is too old to not have his own seat. I guess we'll just have to wait until they play the Rays in a regular season game now.  We have tickets for a few more spring training games, but we'll be heading down to Tropicana when they're in town.  If it makes you feel better, by husband was bummed out on Sunday morning when he read the list of who didn't make the bus.  His comment was "if you know their name, they're probably not going to be there" :)

  • What did you want to be when you grew up?

Are you doing what you want to do for work, or is it just a job?

    What is your favorite food?

What book are you reading, or recently finished reading?

What is the scariest thing that has happened to you?

What is your biggest pet peeve?

    What is your biggest fear?

What is the best thing that has happened to you?

  • imagekelcat:

What did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be a lawyer, because I loved arguing a case

Are you doing what you want to do for work, or is it just a job? Some days I like it others I don't.  It's not what I want to be doing long term ... although I'm going on 12 years at the same company.

What is your favorite food?  Chicken Marsala

What book are you reading, or recently finished reading? I don't do a lot of "pleasure reading"  I started the Accidential Billionaire about six months ago, and haven't finished up.  My job has a lot of technical reports and articles - I'm currently working through a market research report that's 480 pages long.

What is the scariest thing that has happened to you?  Finding MIL dead, and going through the standard police investigation they had to do, while trying to comfort DH.

What is your biggest pet peeve? People who are never wrong.  We all make mistakes

What is your biggest fear?  That I won't be able to get pregnant.

What is the best thing that has happened to you? It probably sounds clique, but meeting my husband.  I was a very independent, single woman for quite awhile, and being married to my best friend really is the best thing in the world.

Shame on me, I haven't checked your blog in a while... Are you all settled in now?  Done unpacking?  Started decorating?  We're kind of settled, I ended up sick a couple days after we closed, and have been dragging butt getting stuff done.  I finally went to the doctor on Thursday; I've been fighting a sinus infection for 3 weeks.  I'm on antibiotics now and feel SO much better.

Have you met your neighbors yet?  How are they? I've met our next door neighbor; he's an older gentleman that lives by himself and travels a lot for work.  He hasn't been around much since we moved in.  The people on the other side of us won't close for a few weeks, and I haven't met them yet.  Other than that I've met a few people on the street; they all seem nice.

How's the pup?  She has a fascination with whining while I'm on conference calls; I guess because she thinks I'm giving attention to other people.  She's been quiet today, but I don't think she's feeling well.  Poor thing.

I like that we're so close to everything, but we're somewhat secluded.  We have conservation land behind us, so it's nice and quiet.  What I like least is the traffic on Bruce B. Downs, and how long the lights are.

Turn on your Pandora/iPod (on Shuffle)/iTunes:  What is the first song that comes on? I haven't downloaded anything in the past year (I've yet to move iTunes over to my new laptop) but if I did it would be something for the top 20 list

Best concert you ever went to: Maroon 5 was decent, and I'm not an American Idol fan, but Kelly Clarkson has an amazing voice - although her stage show is far from impressive

Fill in the blank: I would love to see Trans Siberian Orchestra in concert.  I played flute for 9 years, and I love instrumental music.

You could not give me free passes and VIP Tickets to see Michael McDonald in concert. OK, I have seen him, more than once, because for some reason my husband has a weird fascination with him.  I go with him, and we're always the youngest people by at least 30 years.

Favorite meal, but you DH won't touch it:  Grilled vegetables and seafood - DH doesn't really eat vegetables or seafood

DH's fave meal, but you won't touch it: this pork casserole his mom used to make him.  I'll eat it, but I try and postpone making it as long as possible, and take a really small serving

Just something you don't want to touch right now:  My dogs crate. She got ill last night and I've treated the bedding and washed it, but I need to scrub down the sides, and I'm not looking forward to it (and not really sure where some yellow rubber gloves are)

If you had to choose Chocolate flavored Tortilla Chips or Saltines and Cheese, which would you choose? Saltines and Cheese

From your blog, I know that you're into stamping, do you do cards and papercrafting or scrapbooking? If not scrapbooking, what do I need to do to turn you over to our side? (It's sad how often I'm trying to convert people to either scrapbooking or General Hospital. Wait. Do you watch GH? I kid, I kid.)

My stamping was mostly cards and papercrafting.  I've dabbled a little with scrapbooking, but it's been awhile (as in six or seven years).  My mom has been doing a lot of scrapbooking lately, and I've thought about picking it up again.

Oh, and when I was in college, my roommate and I would record GH on our good old VHS tapes and watch it on the weekend - I continued for a few years after I graduated.  Somehow I suspect that even though it's been years since I've watched I'd be able to pick up the story line pretty quickly ;)
