Monday Moans

What do you have to moan about today?

Lets see.....between Friday and Saturday alone I worked 25 hours (and got 3 hours of sleep). So, needless to say, im still exhausted. And this week doesnt look like it will be much better....hope it doesn't suck as much!!!!

I need a vacation...or better pay for what i do. Or both...both would work!

  • I don't like wishing ill things on other people but I feel like making an exception today for the Westboro Baptist Church people.  They are just so disgusting!  There is a family in Perry County, PA who just lost 7 of their 8 children in a house fire.  It is such a tragic horrible event.  And to make it even worse, that "church" plans on protesting at these childrens' funeral!  Where do they get off by using a family's pain and grief as a way to gain themselves attention and spread their hateful messages?!?!  I am so beyond disgusted with them and wish I could go there to be one of the people forming a perimeter around the funeral building.

Other than that, I'm just sleepy today. And once again, we didn't file out taxes this weekend like we wanted to. Maybe we just need to suck it up and do it tonight....blah!

  • I only had one half day sub job last week. This week had been looking better as I was supposed to sub today (but it was cancelled); however I have three days at the end of the week in one of my favorite classrooms.

Also, in the past my mom and I would do my taxes by hand and then my parents' tax guy would just look them over. This year we were claiming the house credit and I had 5 or 6 W-2s and I didn't want to do them myself and mess it up.  The tax guy who used to look them over won't take me on even though he knows us because he isn't "taking new clients". So H and I went to the guy who does his parents taxes. Luckily we had to paper file this year because when he sent us the paper work for us to sign and mail in to the IRS it listed my first name as Mary when my first name is Lisa (and my middle name starts with an N) so we have no idea where Mary came from. Luckily the attorney fixed it and mailed us a new copy but we are just grateful that it was not e-filed incorrectly. That would have been a bigger pain!

  • Hey guys,

DH decided to tell me the other day he doesn't want to move back to Indiana like he told me we were. he's been looking into either Virginia or Pennsylvania.  So here i've been planning the move and my vacation before so we could find a place to move and I could interview for jobs and now everything has to change. I don't want to break the news to the family and friends.

    Work still sucks too.

I'm sorry Deb!! Are you ok with not moving back to Indiana? If you are, then I say great and your family and friends will deal - what matters most is your happiness. But, if you're not ok with it, make sure you really talk it out with DH. Figure out why he is thinking VA or PA now instead of IN. Whatever you guys end up doing, the decision needs to be made together!

  • Kim, I hope you got some major OT/comp time for this weekend and that last night/today you are able to catch up on some much needed sleep!

Deb, I hope things work out for your move and with the new job search.  I hope work gets better once you move.

Don't have many Monday Moans.  We had an awesome weekend... including cleaning, pub crawl with our touch football team, and a bull roast for the foundation in honor of my cousin's foundation... great time with family and close friends.  My cousin and his wife (who DH and I are very close with) came into town for the bull roast and stayed with us, and they announced they're pregnant!  They've been married almost 8 years and have always been ambivalent about having kids so this is a huge huge excitement for us!  It will kind of be like our little niece/nephew because we're very close.   And cousin's pregnant wife asked if I would host/plan the baby shower so I am so stoked and excited about this- we'll have our new house by then!

The only moan I guess I have is that we were supposed to go to the beach this summer with my cousin and his wife.  Well, now that they are expecting she cannot take vacation because she works for a small private company and isn't guaranteed maternity leave, so she needs to save up all her time.  We may not be able to afford to go now, esp with buying a house.  I'm sad because I already secured my vacation days... I might still go and stay with my grandparents (we were supposed to be renting the townhouse 2 doors down from them) but I know DH won't go because he refuses to stay at my grandparents beach house after we had a falling out with my grandfather (resolved now) 2 summers ago.  Just sucks because I was really looking forward to us going as a family and taking puppy and spending a week at the beach together for our one year anniversary.  I'm really hoping we can find another couple to go with us so we can still go.

  • I have a job interview tomorrow. The school is exactly what I'm looking for, and in a location I want. And I'm still suffering from this nasty illness. I think I'm sicker now that I was over the weekend.

I wish, but no to both questions. And that is why my job sucks.

  • My Monday Moan is to whoever coined the phrase "morning sickness". It must have been a man who clearly had no clue that it's pretty much "all day sickness", really. All I wanted on Saturday night was a juicy steak and some garlic mashed potatoes. I literally had been planning all day that I would be eating that for dinner at Outback with friends. Naturally, I got about halfway into my meal, and they couldn't get the plate out of in front of me quick enough. Apparently baby changed it's mind about having steak, and let me know pretty quickly!

  • My only moan today is for my poor aching legs.

DH and I played winter ball on Saturday. We won first place, but my legs are killing me now.

Winterball is basically baseball in the winter, but we use a broomball, which is bigger and softer than a baseball.

  • My Monday  Moan is that my teacher, who wouldn't let me miss class with a legit Dr's note and a 103* fever, didn't show up to class today because she is too sick. Also I don't want to go to work until 10pm. I'd rather stay at home with my husband and take a nap.

  • *hugs* to all! Sounds like we are all having a rough day/weekend/something.

Mine is that I was stupid enough to procrastinate this paper, and now I just want to sleep, because I finally got a day off. Also, because I took today off, I have to work extra hours Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and have no time to have a spring "break". Rawr.

  • I would have had moans this morning... but my Monday work day is basically over!    I lasted about 30 minutes into my 2 hour (really 90 min) lecture before I started coughing... and I didn't completely lose my train of thought this week like I did last week.   Before last week, the most I had ever given a talk to was about 75 people, give or take 20.   Speaking to 200 students, in a lecture hall,  with my entire department present to witness my first lecture... was INTIMIDATING!!!    I still forget details once I start to talk, but I've been told the more times I give the lectures, the more details I'll remember to say (luckily they are in the lecture notes). Today was much smoother, despite the coughing.

I get to go to my first sewing class (work sponsored, also taking knitting!), then might go to Ikea,  then go home and watch mindless TV and do nothing for the first time in about a month!  DH is out of town for work til Wednesday,  so I think I will watch a chick flick tonight!

  • And one little moan... I wish I would remember that my mom hasn't & probably won't change the outgoing message on her answering maching.  It still has my dad's message- and I wish I would stop crying when I hear his voice (b/c sometimes it is just nice to hear his voice again!)  You would think after 6 months I would remember....
  • Val-it gets better, hang in there!  I had it all day too, especially when I smelled certain things, it just made me crazy...I couldn't go places where there was food because the smell might bother me!

My Monday moan is more about tomorrow...I start my new Master's program which means right after teaching all day, I have to head to class until 8:45 ugh.  I'm going to have to eat and use the rest room several times during the 4 hour long class and I'm just dreading it so much.  Everything just seems so much harder to do being pregnant!

  • Work is just making me really angry right now.  Computers are being ridiculous, people are being ridiculous, other people aren't getting back to me and we've already passed the first deadline and pushed it back, and the girl who was hired to help me with stuff asks soooooooooooooooooooooo many questions everyday, all the time!!! And I have a headache.  Altogether, I just want to hurl this computer out my 5th story window and go home.  Grr.

  • My moan is just that I can't concentrate.  Spring break is right around the corner, but I just can't stop procrastinating.  I have two small papers for my Masters class that I still haven't turned in, they were due last Thursday.  Oh well.  My prof probably isn't even reading them...we all got A's last quarter if we did well student teaching.

  • Monday moan:  My student with autism has been off a lot lately.  I know it's because his aid has been away on a vacation last week and returns tomorrow.  However, he was playing with the electrical cords and plugging in things in school so I took his paw print (white, green, yellow, red system) and before we were able to refocus him within 5-10 minutes back to his work and continue our day.  Not today.. he completely FREAKED out.  Pushing, hitting the desk, screaming, crying... :(  I felt completely HORRIBLE.  Before he started freaking out, his old first grade teacher who was on her break tried to get him to take a walk with her.. and that didn't work.  So then the guidance counselor saw and came over.  So it became a huge meltdown.. had to get all the kids out of the room and into another room.  :(  Such a bad afternoon... blah!!!
  • I know Im late but here is my monday moan-

the fact that it's monday and I had to work Stick out tongue

I also had to take my 3 hour glucose test and get blood taken 4 times this morning...not much fun, so Im hoping the results come out that I dont have gestational diabetes.
