People in Japan/with family in Japan

How's everyone doing? All of my friends are okay and accounted for (massive sigh of relief)... but I'm still thinking of everyone over there.

Re: People in Japan/with family in Japan

  • We are too :(  I'm glad all of your F&F are alright.  MH has a lot of family there and all of them are okay as well.  MH's Aunt was on the train when the earthquake happened... so scary.  It's so devastating and surreal watching all the coverage on the news.

  • My FIL's family reside in Fukushima. My MIL got in touch with them after the initial quake but got disconnected during an aftershock. We got in touch with them two days later, doing okay--house is a mess, no running water. But now, I'm really worried about the nuc plant. Its in their prefecture, but FIL's family resides a little more inland. Nonetheless, I'm really worried for them and their safety.

My MIL's family live in Nagano. They suffered a pretty significant aftershock, and my MIL's uncle's brother completely lost his home. Its so sad.

Please continue to have Japan in your T&Ps. I can't even imagine what its like to clean up after something like this. They're a strong country. But it'll just take a lot of time.

  • Oh my gosh, where in Nagano are they? I lived on the western border of Nagano and haven't heard from anyone in my little village yet. (Sakashita, Gifu-ken) =(
  • My extended family have all confirmed that they are OK.  My aunt was at a train station in Tokyo and she said the shaking was so bad that strangers were clinging to each other to keep from falling down.

Most of my friends have confirmed that they are OK too, but some have been having trouble reaching their families who live in the area.

I just can't imagine what everyone there is going through, or those who haven't been able to confirm that their F&F are OK.

  • It's awful. I was listening to a reporter last night who was in Tokyo, but couldn't reach his kids who were 100 km away from the nuclear plant because he couldn't get any gas! Terrifying. It's like a horror movie.
