Buying a wedding dress online??

So a friend of mine is considering buying her wedding dress online and I just thought I'd see if any of you did this and/or heard anything about these two sites she is looking at using. TIA!

Re: Buying a wedding dress online??

  • I've heard of preownedweddingdresses.com being a great place to sell a dress.  My only thing with buying online, is you really don't know how a dress is going to look on you until you actually try it on.  I mean, if she found something she liked somewhere, tried it on and loved and then went to buy it online for cheaper...great!  But buying without trying on, not so great (in my opinion).

  • I was a weird bride.  I didn't want to spend a lot of money on my dress because I mess up everything so I wanted a cheap dress and after trying on a bunch of dresses realized that I liked the look of Maggie dresses.

I bought my dress online.  I bought a no name, no label, dress probably sewed in a sweatshop from Ebay and had it shipped from China (nope...I'm not kidding), folded into a fedex soft mailer) to my apt in LA.

Brought it home and had a dress person here in Toledo doctor it up to fit me.

I paid $100 and my dress was amazeballs and I got tons of compliments.

There was a website whose name I'm forgetting but if you look around the knot you'll find it.  It was a store but they sold most of their stuff online and had great prices.  I would check them out too (if they are still in business).

If she knows what she's looking for then I say get it online.  If she doesn't know then she should go somewhere and try a bunch on to see what look she likes.

I found the one I wanted at Davids.  I then watched ebay and found it there and I think I got it for $50 or $75 bucks.  I paid $80 to get it cleaned and had pam change the bustle.   I couldn't see paying a fortune for a dress I was going to wear one time.  I would rather put the money into the photos or my ring ;-)
  • Thanks, I'll let her know! She has tried on a million dresses.
  • I brag about my dress I bought on ebay. I went to David's Bridal and another little shop in Millbury whose name I can't remember, to try on different styles to find what I liked. Then my mom and I did an ebay hunt till we found one I liked, bought it for $100, tried it on and it was almost too perfect. Had it fit to me by Seams Perfect and everyone was complimenting my dress the whole night! People were shocked to here I got it from ebay. I also didn't want to spend a lot on a dress I would wear once.
