Planting a garden?

So, I'm making my first attempt at planting a garden this year.  Any idea where I can find info on a timeline of what I should plant soon, and what should wait until later in the spring?  Also, where is the best place to buy the seeds?

I'm pretty clueless but would really like to have fresh food for my family this summer so any ideas are much appreciated!

Re: Planting a garden?

  • If go to Earl May, they usually have some little pamphlets by the seeds that give you a lot of good information about when and how to plant.  Good luck and have fun!

  • Here's a link to my garden planting schedule: http://cookingintheheartland.blogspot.com/2011/03/2011-veggie-garden-plans.html -- I will be moving my mid-march veggies to late-march and I'm not planting garlic until late summer.

USDA's website has information on different planting zones.

I bought my seeds from Earl May, but you can get them pretty much anywhere that has a gardening center. Or, you can order them online from a reputable dealer.
