Two of my best friends are having baby boys the same week in May and I am trying to think of something unique and special to give each of them.
Is there something you can recommend beyond the typical ideas?
Hope all is well.
Thanks,
Erica
Re: Unique Baby Gift Ideas
I love the Trick Sunhat by etsy seller WorthyGoods. http://www.etsy.com/shop/worthygoods -- quality is awesome, and the hat can be worn many different ways (safari, fedora, fisherman... and it's reversible). I bought one for Kyle last summer, and only got compliments on it.
I have a favorite seller for baby bonnets, too, but even though that seller has "boy" hats, they still look too "girly" for me -- etsy seller UrbanBabyBonnets -- http://www.etsy.com/shop/urbanbabybonnets
I just got my SIL baby name blocks with my nephew's name on them and hand painted in in Classic Pooh design. I also got a handpainted, personalized piggy bank.
Another favorite is a personalized, embroidered blanket from Fleece on Earth in Vermont. My girls each have 2, their first was their blankie and we had to get another one because they loved them so much.
I also like plaques that are personalized with the baby's name, birthday, weight, length, etc. You can order them or you can even go to a paint your own pottery place to make something
I love doing something different for a baby because I know who gave me lots of special items from when I was a baby and my daughters each have items that remind me of people because they gave the gift. It is so much more personal than a registry gift (which is really useful, but for a close friend, something different is so special)
i love personalized soft baby blankets... you really use blankets so much!

i also loved ther personalized name puzzle stools that i got for the girls- they each have one and play with it in their room and they are super cute.

I really loved a wooden block with info. about my daughter's birth - http://www.craftefamily.com/baby_gifts/baby_block_personalized.asp
Like PP, I love the onesies and stickers (stickers can come from many vendors on etsy).
Like another PP, I really like cloth blocks to spell out the baby's name (as long as the name isn't too long
- I've really liked working with this etsy vendor who makes the blocks colors to match the baby's room - http://www.etsy.com/shop/SpottedWhale?section_id=6540423
A gift certificate to do Stroller Strides depending on where they live and if they would like that.
Good luck!
I did something like this for a friend, she loved it:
