Update: Family

Hi Guys,

It's been a hectic few days, but I felt bad for my short message last Friday regarding the earthquake. Sorry I sounded so snarky, I think I was just deflated and in zombie mode.

I had spent the whole night before trying to get through to my family and the circuits were all jammed up. I finally got through to them on Friday afternoon. All immediate family was safe and accounted for. Unfortunately, my cousins husbands family lives in Sendai and have not been heard from. They are a fishing family and their home was leveled by the tsunami.

Again, I'm sorry I was such a lame poster on Friday.

Kaz, don't apologize, there's nothing to apologize for.

I'm so glad you were able to reach your immediate family and that they are safe.  My thoughts are with your family and I hope for a good resolution for your cousin's husband's family.

Do you have any ideas for how people in the U.S. could help?  Besides donating money to the Red Cross or another organization, or course.

  • kaz, thoughts and prayers are with your family and your cousin's husband's family (and all of the families affected by the tragedy in japan)!
  • Kaz, T&P with your family.

Richard wanted to take time off work and go to Japan to help with any relief efforts.  It doesn't look like it will happen, but we would have liked to have gone to help.

  • Thanks for your thoughts.

Deb-That's so amazingly sweet and heroic that Richard wanted to help. What a great person you married.

Mush- As of right now there's not too much information on aid to Japan besides donations to get more manpower out to help with search and rescue but there is this:

The founder of Explore.org is asking people to ?Like? its Dog Bless Youpage on Facebook. In exchange for a ?Like?, Charlie Annenberg Weingarten has agreed to donate one dollar to the National Disaster Search Dog Foundation, which has sent a dog rescue team to Japan. More than 100,000 people have already joined the campaign, making the next milestone is 200,000.

    Again, thank you all.
