We had a great trip! The location of the hotel (recommended by LB) was perfect and since they mistakenly put us in a room with two queens, we got upgraded to the penthouse! It was awesome.
Seasons 52 (also LB and DP) was also amazing. The spicy pork flatbread we had as an appetizer was one of the best things either of us have ever eaten. It was the perfect atmosphere and the food was delicious. Plus the cost was very reasonable for the type of restaurant.
Thanks to everyone for all the recs! We appreciate it! DH even said after the trip "Boy, those internet girls know their stuff."
Re: Thanks for the recs!
I heard in the beginning this place was always so crowded, is it still this way? DH said he was thinking he'd surprise me and take me there for my birthday since I'm reading the series, but didn't know if I'd want to walk that much when I'm 7 mo. pregnant, so he better check first.
To be honest, we were a little underwhelmed. Don't get me wrong, Hogwarts looked great and the shops (from the outside...didn't go in to most because the lines were way too long) were interesting but it was a much smaller area than I expected. We got on the Forbidden Journey pretty quickly and that was really neat even though I got kind of motion sick. Then we went on the Dragon Challenge which is just Dueling Dragons redone with some HP stuff going up to the ride. We also went on Flight of the Hippogriff which was really short but had some interesting props leading up to it. I don't know how to explain it but it just didn't have the "magical" feel I was expecting. We also didn't try Butterbeer because the lines were really long and neither of us really likes butterscotch. It was fun but I'm glad I didn't pay a separate admission fee to get in.
Good to know! Did you go on Sunday? I'm wondering if I take a day off work to go if that would make a difference, because if we went solely for HP then I'd want to see all of the places and not skip b/c of lines. Also, I wonder if it's still so new that in a year it might die down (if we wait for my next birthday when I'm not pg).
It was a Sunday. The rest of the park really wasn't crowded at all. It may be slower during the week but I think the HP part of the park is always the most crowded right now. I'm sure it will die out over time since I know it was WAY more crowded a few months ago. It definitely wasn't unbearable but we didn't want to wait in lines for the stores when we could go on rides. If you're not going on rides then you might not mind the lines for the stores. They weren't terrible, it just wasn't worth it to us to wait.
Please explain to me what this is. I'm assuming it's delicious...but the name sounds disgusting.
Hold the phone.
You don't know what butterbeer is...? Sooooo... you have not read HP?
Thanks for explaining. Muggles. *eyeroll*
Run, run for your life! She'll make you do it, her powers wear you down! You'll be reading HP in no time! (Just kidding, once I got past 1&2, I really started enjoying them. And now that I'm almost done with 4, I can't put 'em down)
Haha. I was waiting for this. No, I have not read or watched any of the HP series. I'm sorry. I realize this makes me a NFL nestie disgrace, LB.
Thanks for the explanation, Jodi. So, is it icy? Or is it like a butterscotch milkshake? I like butterscotch.
This needs to be remedied. Quickly.
I'm going to WWoHP in a few weeks, and I already know its going to be an absolute madhouse. For whatever reason, my MIL scheduled the annual family trip for the first day of spring break for most Florida schools. Awesome.
This is butterbeer. The one on the left is a frozen type drink and the one on the right is like soda. I highly recommend trying both because they taste different. Both are delicious though!
Tee hee
How is it that my BABY is going to be 3?
