I pretty much just wanted to call you a freak of nature
I drink a lot of coffee (well I did before BFing) and I never noticed that my pee smelled of coffee. Then again, I didn't really sniff it frequently so perhaps it did smell of coffee but just not strongly enough for me to notice. Either way, you've made me want a big cup of coffee and I'm mad at you for that because I've done really well and haven't had one cup of coffee since Alex was born.
I knew someone would!

to not having coffee yet!
I had a cup the morning after Sami was born while still in the hospital, and I've proceeded to have at least a cup every day since! Gotta make up for lost time, you know...

Yeah, except I was the terrible horrible pregnant mom-to-be that didn't give caffeine up entirely throughout pregnancy. I had a cup day, 3 times a week throughout. I really haven't craved it at all since Alex was born, but now I definitely want some!
I confess -- the minute Pumpkin Spice Lattes came out at the end of August, I was that horrible pregnant mom-to-be as well...

You are, it's basically the equivialnt to a small 12 oz cup of a coffee which is what I had. Doesn't mean people don't judge you when you're at the coffee shop looking very pregnant lol.
Yeah, the equivalent of 1 small cup per day... but telling me I can only have a small? Cold-turkey was less torture.

Yeah, I had a few Pumpkin Pie Lattes, which our local coffee shop makes, and they're even better than the Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Lattes, which I didn't think was possible.
Speaking of judging, ever walk into a liquor store and buy a bottle of vodka while pregnant? I felt guilty just being in there -- didnt matter that it wasn't for me!

whew. Ok good. I only drink 12oz a day anyway. And I make it at home, so no one to judge!! Thank goodness, otherwise I would be a beast with migraines.
I did go into a few liquor stores but didn't get any looks. It was in New Jersey, I think that's common place there
I did get dirty looks in the bar though. I was the DD for my BIL and a couple friends a few times while pregnant. People definitely give you the death glare when you walk into a bar pregnant lol.
Yeah, it took a while to get it down to just the one cup, I would still get terrible headaches because I usually drank about 3 cups a day. It was rough!

Oh yeah, I totes had diet sodas while pregnant. I only stopped having them as much since I've been BFing, though even that is slipping as time goes on...

Yeah I had and still have an occasional Dr. Pepper. It's my weakness. I don't really like soda very much but I love Dr. Pepper.

Also slightly related is the taste for cilantro. Genetics controls whether it tastes delicious, or it tastes like soap.

I wonder if that's the same for onions. If I even have the smallest bit of onions, my pee smells like it.

I read this in the book "Why Do Men Have Nipples?" Apparently native Frenchmen's pee doesn't smell after eating asparagus.
I should bust that book out and do a post a day.
I always thought the smell of your pee (even food related pee) depended on how concentrated it was.
Like, if you had a HUGE glass of water with your asparagus it wouldn't smell because the water dilutes the urine. Hmm, genetics it is.
I've never had my pee smell like coffee, however I only drink 16oz a day and drink about 64 oz of water a day too....
When I cook with onions and garlic my fingers smell like them for at least two days no matter how much I wash them. Also, if I eat something heavily flavored with garlic I can smell it for a few days after, it must hang out in my sweat glands or membranes or something.
