Unfortunately many experts are predicting it's bound to happen. One man said the techtonic plate is like a giant square over the Pacific, there have been earthquakes in New Zealand, Chile, and Japan, the last "corner" being the San Andreas fault in CA. He predicted that it's inevitable, but it's not something he could speculate with a time frame. But he said look at how close those 3 happened.
The San Andreas fault is under land, for the most part, so there would not be a tsunami. However, if it's the Cascadian fault, it could be in the ocean right outside Washington, which would cause a tsunami to hit Canada/Washington/Oregon the worst.
