Relocating to Austin
Hi Ladies,
My husband and I are relocating to Austin from St. Louis this June. We are trying to figure out what are some nice apartments in North Austin. Any suggestions? We have a dog so we need pet friendly. Please give us any hints you have for the moving process. This whole thing is a bit more overwhelming than I realized!

You sound so similar to myself! I took on the task of searching for apartments, thinking no problem, I can do this myself!! I swear I spent hours upon hours, and have probably seen every apartment possible online. Anyways, my husband and I are moving the end of this month, and we ended up working with an apartment locator, which was SO helpful, and free for us! We found a great place in NW Austin. I don't know what your price point is, but this place was seriously the best I found for the price, and in an awesome neighborhood in the hills (safe, and away from the bustle of major traffic, and has a hwy available to cut out a lot of major hwy traffic to get into the center of Austin). We have a dog, too, so I know they're pet friendly. Reasonable pet deposit of $400 (half refundable), and $10/mo for pet rent.

We moved here from Dallas about 3 years ago. We were already familiar with the area because we went to college nearby but it was still hard to plan from far away. We didn't want to work with a locator just for the fact that we wanted to use one of those move for free websites. (We'd used them in the past with success.) I don't know that that would really help you though since you're moving from another state.
Anyway, when we moved here we lived at Verde Oak Park. It was very nice and is pet friendly. One of the things that I have to say is that we never had problems with the office staff and that our move out was very easy. It seems that with a pet (even one whose completely housetrained) apartments always seem to way over charge you. This one didn't. I really don't have anything bad to say about them.
