looking to buy a new car..what do you drive?
We are in the market for a new car and may trade in my car or just buy a used car. DH is well over six foot so leg room is certainly something were looking at also something that rides well on long trips we drive alot! Any thoughts suggestions welcome because we are all over the place at the moment especially after test driving a few this weekend. Also if you have used a certain dealer let me know that as well we have only been here a year so not sure who is best
thanks all!
Re: looking to buy a new car..what do you drive?
We are very happy with our Honda Civic. DH is just under six feet and he has no problems. We drive it to OH/MD/PA without problem.
It gets great gas mileage and I love the dashboard. We have used it to help us move and we fit a decent amount in it.
This, exactly! LOVE the hatchback!
Toyota Camry. now, mine is a 99 so it's been beat to hell (and we just replaced the engine)--but keep in mind that I drive my cars into the GROUND! It is our main car and is what we take on all/any road trips.
I'd recommend any kind of Toyota really, but I love the Camry (maybe get a few years younger?). My uncle fits comfortably in it and he's well over 6ft.
I drove a Civic for 10+ years and loved it (I had a 2-door EX model with sunroof). We traded it in when a bunch of random (expensive) things happened in pretty quick succession. Bought a Ford Fusion (the SE model) to replace it. So far, I'm extremely pleased with it--but I've only had it since mid January.
When we were looking for our new car, I also drove a Prius (I didn't like anything about it except the gas mileage) and a used Outback. LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the
Outback, but the one we looked at had too many miles on it and it was JUST over the standard warranty (and the used dealers' warranty wasn't good).
Some of the random things Dh and I agreed that we couldn't live without in our new car: Sunroof, good trunk/cargo space, 4 doors--in that order. I never thought I'd like satellite radio, but turns out I LOVE it. Navigation systems were actually something I didn't want, so I'm glad the Sync is only voice for that on the SE it's only voice commands, no screen.
DH rides his bike most often. We have a 10 year old bare-bone Chevy Prism that sits in our driveway most of the time. It's ugly and has power nothing, but it's fine for his commute and as our back up car to mine.
Currently I have an 07 Corolla which I love love love! I have never had an issue with it and the gas mileage is fantastic. The issue is it can be tight when other people are riding with us and DH is in the car because the front seat goes so far back no one can sit behind him. So he has been begging me to trade it in and get something bigger for a while now.
Also his car has a number of issues so its time to move on. We are trying to decide buy one brand new car and an around town car or keep mine and get a used something bigger. We thought 4 wheel drive but really why? Does anyone drive 4 wheel drive for snow around here and we are not off roaders. Subaru is on the list and we drove jeeps also love the camry but I just feel like that isnt too much bigger than my corolla. Decisions..Thanks for the advice.
My H is 6'4 with long legs. We have 2 Nissans-- a Sentra and a Maxima. Their cars and SUVs consistently have enough leg room and headroom for him. We found that compact cars by Toyota are too small, as are their SUVs (the SUV's aren't wide enough in the area where your legs go, so his knee rubs the console). Honda cars are fine, but the SUVs are too small (the track that the seat is on will not go back far enough).
VWs generally have tons of leg room; so does BMW.
