We are moving to Virginia!!!! Jim has received a PCS, but not to where we imagined... I think even better. We were hoping for Ft. Belvior, but he has been offered a position as a foreign disclosure (intelligence) officer at the National Ground Intelligence Center in Charlottesville Virginia. This is a Major promotable position which means that he could consievably make LT. Col. in 3 years if he plays his cards right!!! I am SO excited. It's been in the works for about a month now and I haven't been able to tell anyone until everything was signed, sealed, and delivered.
Downside?!?! He reports on April 11th. ARGHHHH!!! I have to be a single mom for 2 months, get the house ready to sell, put it on the market, pack, finish the school year--I'm going to go CRAZY!! But I am excited. We are making a trip out next week during spring break to look for a place to live. We are going to rent until we figure out what to do. Since NGIC doesn't have housing like a base does, we'll get an allowance for "off base" housing--granted it doesn't go as far as it would here in Colorado, but every bit helps and I'll take it.
Now I have to start looking for jobs in that area. My interviews that I have are in the beltway in Prince William and Loudoun Counties and I wouldn't be able to do that--It's over 2 hours away. So now the job hunt begins. I do have to work this year, since the transfer to NGIC involves a one year probationary period, but after that, if we really budget, I can stay home with Dunc!
I am just so excited about this. I was able to turn in my resignation today and it felt SO good. The stress and negativity about my current district that has been weighing me down has just disappeared! Now I've really got to get my butt in gear and get everything ready. June can not come fast enough for me!!!

Welcome to the dark side
LOL Em -- glad you're back!
Kate, that's awesome! BIL and SIL live in Charlottesville, for a few more months, and we're going to visit in late May -- we'll miss you by just a few weeks
On the other hand, I know of a beautiful house that's going on the market there. Nothing we could afford, but if you want I can send you the listing. The place is gorgeous (4BR, might be more than you need!).
