I think it should be outlawed...

to air commercials for restaurants that aren't within a reasonable drive from my house.  Red Robin has been showing this absolutely delicious looking burger commercial all day and the nearest one to my house is two hours away.  How annoying.  Also, Sonic, the closest one is an hour away and it tortures me with it's delicious mixed drink combination, namely the cherry limeade which I need but won't be able to have for a looong time.  Boooo!!

/vent.

Re: I think it should be outlawed...

  • I second this.  The nearest Sonic to me is in DELAWARE.

ETA: That is like 3 hours away without traffic.  And they air their commercials all the dang time.

We have a Red Robin near the fabric store though, but I haven't been in years.

Also, we need an Elephant Bar in our area.  I'm seriously considering driving to one when I'm in CA next week.

  • Y'all should move here. I can name 13 Sonic's within in 20 mile radius.
  • Thats how I feel about Joes Crab Shack. The closest one is Pittsburgh which is four ish hours away.

ETA: i think there might be one somewhere in maryland that is actually closer than pittsburgh.

Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • we also get commercials for Joe's Crab shack and Cici's Pizza buffett, and we don't have any within a reasonable drive. The closest are in PA for us. We just got a sonic within the past yr.

I'd really like to try Joes Crab Shack but the closest one to me is probably Pittsburgh or the one in Maryland too lol.

You know I lived 10 mins from a Crab Shack and never went.  I always wanted  but just never got there.  It's in  the Princeton, NJ area...

Not saying you could jump in the car right now and ride right over but is that closer than Pitt and Maryland??

  • Oh and I second the Sonic commercials.  The closest one to us is in West Philadelphia and never go to that one unless I feel really brave.  The only time I'll go to a Sonic is when we are coming back from visiting Dan's parents.  There's one off of 95 that's easy to get to and there's no risk of getting hi-jacked or murdered.

We get these as well & the closest one is in NY (I'm in northern MA). I loved Cici's when I lived in FL.

  • I agree! They play Joe's Crab Shack commercials here all of the time and the nearest one is in Nashville, 2 hours away. Really it just makes me want to go to the beach. :(
  • Christina- they just built a crab shack near Strong Hospital. :-)
Baby, you've got the sort of eyes that tell me tales...

  • This is how I feel about Arby's and Cici's... granted Arby's is out in the western part of the state, but still!

Sonic used to be an issue, and how we have 2 :D

Really?!?! Have you been to it yet? Maybe we need to have a GTG! :) ETA: after you have your little one of course.
  • I feel that way about Joe's Crab Shack, too. The closest one is in Branson, an hour away. Stees and I are going this weekend! Woo!

Cici's Pizza is gross. Mazzio's FTW!

I had Arby's for dinner on Monday.

I wish they wouldn't show commercials for Macaroni Grill. I think the closest one is in Little Rock (4 hours away).

Also, I really wish we had Whole Foods and/or Trader Joes.

Meh, you really aren't missing much.  I only go to Whole Foods for its sushi, and Trader Joe's for their wine...

Ha. I live in a dry county anyway, so even if I had a TJ's, it probably wouldn't sell wine.

I drive to Missouri for my liquor. I often wonder if Benton County realizes how much revenue is going to McDonald County, MO that could stay in Benton County if they just lifted the dry county law.

The concept of a dry county is still so foreign to me... how in the gods' names did that ever get passed?!

It's just always been that way, and they've never changed it. It's been that way since prohibition was lifted. True story. Honestly though, it's really not all that uncommon in the South. Even the county my college is located in is dry. We're all pretty used to having to drive to another county to get our liquor.

The only thing we're still feeling from the whole prohibition this is that certain wineries, etc won't ship to Massachusetts, and just that is enough to piss me off.  I couldn't imagine having to cross state lines!

Oh yeah, we can't ship into the state either. Which is why I'm planning to bring an extra bag to PA so I can bring wine back with me on the plane.

Seriously! The closest place to get liquor and beer for me is 3 mins away and I'd DIE if it were any farther!

Lol, okay well I won't make you eat seafood!  We'll have to plan a GTG at a different place sometime after you're all settled into a routine with your LO.
