Baby Shower Help!!! ......kind of long sorry :(

Hello Ladies!

I know I introduced myself awhile ago and have not been very active on this board :/

But I was wondering if you all can help me as I'm still pretty new to this area!

I am planning a "Baby Sprinkle" for my sister. It is going to just be a small GTG since this is her 3rd child. I'm only inviting her closest friends and family, I have 18 on the invite list so far!

For one i'm on a tight budget! Maybe $700 max for everything is what I can afford. At first I was thinking of renting out a clubhouse ($75.00) then making all the food myself, and of course I'd have to also decorate the place. But, then I thought if it is only going to be MAX 18 people, then maybe I should look into restaurants.

Does anyone know of any Country Clubs or restaurants that have Sunday Brunch buffets in the Tampa area. I live in Wesley Chapel so anything close to me is also good!

Any other Suggestions are greatly appreaciated!!!

TIA :-)

Yolanda

Re: Baby Shower Help!!! ......kind of long sorry :(

  • I'm still fairly new to the area and don't have any suggestions for locations, but wanted to throw in my two cents.  I'm not a fan of showers at restaurants, the ones I've been to have felt really stuffy, and I think a shower should be more of an intimate gathering.  I may be alone on this thought, but I'd be more apt to lean towards the clubhouse option - and if I didn't want to do all the cooking, I might get a few trays of food from a local restaurant/caterer.

  • The Rusty Pelican used to have a Sunday brunch..not sure if they still do.  I think you can rent out the smaller rooms there so it's more of a private affair. I have no idea on the cost though and they might have a minimum number of people for the private rooms.
  • I'm with Ageis on this one. You could easily do a Club house and breakfast buffet there. Have DH and some of the guys help cook. Do a create your own pancake/waffle area so all you need is the griddle, pancake mix toppings.

18 people can add up fast and I think your initial idea was best.

  • What about First Watch? They usually have a small are athey can have showers at(in most locations). If not, def would go with a home shower or clubhouse :-)

  • I am definitely not anti-restaurant showers.  I definitely get more stressed having large events at my house because there is so much more to do.

I know there is a Grillsmith at Wiregrass and I'm not sure about that one in particular but the one by me in Tampa does Sunday brunch and lunch.  Both of the ones I've been to in Tampa also have nice private rooms.  You could easily stay under $700 and would probably spend about $15 per person.  There is a nestie named Mindy who does really cute cakes and I know Jennifer0808 had a cake made by her for her baby shower so you should check her out too (www.sweetsbymindy.com) .  I think you would come in well under budget overall.

I recently threw my friend a bridal shower at a place in South Florida that is super similar to Grillsmith and it turned out wonderful.  With a few flowers, balloons, and baby themed decor I think it would be great and so much less stress for you!

  • Thanks ladies!!!! These are all great suggestions!!! I'm going to check out Grill Smith if they have a closed off section for us! I still have the clubhouse booked but I need to decide soon :/

    Thanks again!!! Big Smile
