Pls Help me organize our SHOES!!

What have you found to be the best way to organize your shoes?  My husband had A LOT of shoes, and I have a decent collection as well.  Needless to say it has become just a mess.

I don't want to go the route of an over the door organizer, or the individual clear bins. I purchased the Shoe Under, even though it didn't have the best reviews.  I haven't had a chance to take it out the box yet so I can't say for myself if it will work.  I just like the idea of being able to put the shoes under the bed in an organized matter, and having a clear top.

What else is out there that you have used, or using that works?  Thanks!

Re: Pls Help me organize our SHOES!!

  • Between DH & I we only have about 20 pairs of shoes. The 10 or so pairs we wear most are on a shelf in our coat closet, the rest are on a shelf in our master bedroom closet.

Our shelves are stackable & similar to this: Mahogany Shoe Rack (Set of 2)

  • We have a couple cheap stackable shoe racks on the shelves in the top of our closet, and we also have a wooden trunk in our entryway to hide the boots that don't fit in the shoe rack as well as the ones that we would otherwise trip over coming through the door.

  • I have 2 Shoes Under for shoes that I rarely wear (in fact I usually forget about them) and we do have the over the door organizer. I didnt want to get it at first but it doesnt look too bad. I have about 70 pairs of shoes and my husband has a lot too.
  • We have TONS of shoes, and there's no easy solution. I've pretty much come to terms with the fact that his will be piled in the bottom of his closet with no organization whatsoever, but mine are in two bookcases with glass doors in my bedroom. I'm planning on covering the glass from the inside with fabric so shoes aren't showing in our bedroom, and the cases are perfect for organizing my shoes. Each case holds about 75 prs, with my flats stacked on top of each other on the bottom shelf and some of the more casual heels stacked double on the shelves above.

  • I have tons of shoes & between the master & the master bathroom I only have two 4X4 closets.  I bought the shelves pictured at Target, along with the two drawers.  Because I live in dusty West TX, so I need the clear shoes boxes, but you could do this without them and fit even more shoes.

  • Wow! That is nice! I am going to have to look into something like this!
  • I have shelves in my closet where I keep all of my shoes.  My husband didn't have the same type of built ins on his side of the closet so we bought some ikea shelves and installed them so he can keep his shoes organized as well.  I just posted about this on my blog.  You can click on the link for the complete post with pictures.
