I've got a fever...

Baby fever.  Seriously bad.  This weekend, I held a friend's new baby for an hour and a half while she slept and we chatted.  I helped my SIL plan one baby shower for a girl I hardly know, but she was giving it at my parent's house.  I went to another friend's baby shower - she just had her little guy on Wednesday!  DH's mom was pestering us about how she's reallllllllly looking forward to a grandbaby.  I got to play with my two-year-old niece.  All this stuff made me want to tell DH, screw waiting until the time is just right, let's go make a baby now.  BUT he'd freak, since he's leaving the country for two months, next Monday.  And I'm starting my new job tomorrow, so I should probably wait until I'm sure I like it there.

Oh, and The Nest isn't helping, with it's sidebar ads for baby names and pregnancy websites and such.

So, who else is catching the fever, but can't do anything about it right now?  Why are you waiting?  Is your DH on the same page as you, timeline-wise?

Re: I've got a fever...

  • I do, but the past weekend has sort of helped to curb it.  H and I have been planning for awhile to start TTC in June, when he finished school.  But we realized after talking this weekend that we're really not ready to have kids, that we want our marriage to grow a bit.  So now the plan is to start TTC in December '11/January '12.  We're going to use BC until June as we previously agreed, and then use NFP as birth control until the end of the year.  We're also planning on going on a cruise with H's family (my two BILs, my SILs, and my MIL) after Christmas, so that's a little incentive not to get KU -- although H says he wouldn't mind trying for a baby while we're in the Caribbean!  So yeah, we're putting it off, but I feel all-around better about it.

Yes, I too have a fever.  I suppose technically we could do something about it right now, it wouldn't be the end of the world if we did get pregnant today.

I want to wait until we can move into a larger house.  We can move starting Nov 2012 because we got the first time homebuyer's credit in 2009 and we have to live in this house for 3 years or we have to pay back the IRS.  We have a small 1000 sq ft 2 bedroom townhouse.  Right now, the 2nd bedroom is where our computers and exercise equipment are.  We also don't have a backyard and we share our walls with neighbors on either side of us.  Not ideal for children, IMO.

I think we're going to wait until the end of this year to TTC, and if successful, then we can put some of the stuff in storage until we sell our house, turning the 2nd bedroom into the nursery.  If we get lucky, and sell our house relatively quickly, we'd only have to pay for storage for 6-12 months.  That's my goal.

That said, we were on our honeymoon cruise this past week, and were a little lax with our NFP rules... So there's a slight possibility I got KU'd.  I won't know for at least another week though, but I'm pretty sure we're OK.

  • I have baby fever BAD!  Saturday night H went to the Wizards game with his best friend...I ran some errands then came home and started browsing online for baby shower gifts for SIL, which then turned into browsing for baby things for my not yet conceived children, lol.  I looked at nursery furniture, strollers, car seats, etc.  I even played with the chinese birth chart on the bump - it was bad.

H just started his own business last month so now is not the time to be expanding the family.  Aside from the fact that we want to give his business some time to grow first, H and I would both love a little one.  We plan to begin TTC in September of 2012.  Here's hoping this baby fever cools down in the meantime.

  • OMG we both have baby fever here too. DH keep talking about it, it keep thinking about it...it's bad. DH plays a game called Smurfs Village on his iPod touch and he just got to the level where he can buy Baby Smurfs. So for now that has satisfied our fever.
  • Just a side note, and I know this is probably being horribly mean, but here it goes:

If you're waiting for the right time, you will always find one more reason to think the time isn't right... so anytime is the right time :)

(Basically, if you're meant to have a baby, just do it and everything else will fall into place)

No, you're very right here... I'm just the type of person who needs to plan/control things, so I'm trying to get at least some ducks in a row before adding more ducks :)

Me!!!! I have been pouring over baby names with H side-eying me like I've lost it lol. I don't know what my deal is? I know we are going to start trying in a few months though, and I also know at least one of my sibs is trying now (which admittedly makes me want to try now... so silly that I am letting that affect me!). I think mentally I am also trying to ease into the idea of this major life change as I (hope) it's just around the corner?
