LB- I saw this, thought of you and laughed...

This reminded me of the conversation about Jen's pink eye the other day & your Indifferent reaction to Pookie's (I think that's who it was) suggestion. Apparently breast milk is some good stuff!

Re: LB- I saw this, thought of you and laughed...

  • Maybe someone can go over to TIP and tell fussbucket to stop putting fecal matter in her eyes...you know, as a tip for pink eye.
  • It is startling to think of it like that, but BM is mostly macrophages, antibodies, and other enzymes that change depending on the age of the child and what viruses, etc. are floating around at the time, which are sampled by the mother from the air. I recently read an article that said that by kissing your child, you're also sampling the bacteria and viruses present on their skin, leading to creating specific antibodies for those and expressing them through breastmilk. Unlike other bodily fluids, it's sterile and antibacterial.

...still, I wouldn't put someone else's breastmilk in my eye. That's just a little too much togetherness. lol

  • I'm sure it's because I'm not a parent and I'll understand one day, but for now...

    Ick!Ick!Ick!

Haha. Agreed. I won't judge any of the new mom's on here if you tell me you rubbed it on your little red rough patch of skin or gooey eye, but I'll pass on any offers to bottle it up for my own use. At least it was her own, but I somehow don't think that will matter in the least to LB.

  • ::pulls out a bottle of ciproflaxin solution from her pocket::

I may have to use it 4x/day, but muh pink eye was GONE overnight, and I didn't have to use anyone else's macrophages. haha

DP, that's interesting. I'll have to remember that for when I'm smothering my future kid with smooches. "IT'S FOR HIR OWN GOOD!"

  • I've used it in B's eye but the idea of putting it in my own (or drinking it myself) totally creeps me out.
