I'm in a funk

and I need to get out of it!! As you all know (because I won't shut up about it) I'm really ready to move on from my current job. In reality, it's not a bad gig - I enjoy the subject matter, the people in the courthouse/sheriff's office that I work with are really wonderful and generally my coworker's make me happy. The pay sucks, but truthfully with DH's income it's not that big of a deal.

But, I'm just OVER IT and it's making every little thing bother me. My client's reasonable questions piss me off, I'm bored out of my mind, the co-workers that i'm not friends with but normally I just ignore are driving me bananas, and all I want is a new pair of tennis shoes that I could easily afford and not feel guilty about if I had a real lawyer salary!

I need to be patient and accept that, if I'm going to wait for the *right* job it may take up to 6 months - a year. This should be okay with me since I do have stable employment right now, but instead it's just turning me into a total raging *** and I don't like it. I'm normally very happy and pleasant and I don't like the person I've been acting like.

Re: I'm in a funk

  • Awwwww! I've been there before - and you are so right - sometimes, it's not the job itself, it's just that you have mentally and emotionally "moved on" from the job, before having to the chance to physically "move on"!

What I can tell you is to hang in there, girl! The right opportunity and the right time for it will both meet up for you very soonSmile

  • Rach, you might remember I was in a "funk" a couple of weeks ago, too. I think sometimes it doesn't help the time of the year (even though you are in beautiful weather - here ends my liking you). I also understand the annoyance of the job. At this point, I thought I would be ready to be having a baby - which never happened - and therefore would begin working from home from now on. I just have to face facts with the fact I have a job, and I enjoy what I do. You just need to get refocused or something. Take a "sick" day. Sometimes that helps me more than ANYTHING! Just a day out of the week to do nothing but veg out during a week day is better than therapy in my book.

DITTO!  i know exactly how you feel - I felt that way for about a year or so as I was finishing up my degree and looking for new jobs.  It's cliche but true...the right timing is everything!  If it helps you at all, I know EXACTLY how you are feeling right now.  Hang in there!!!

  • Thank you, friends! I'm trying to stay positive and usually am okay about it, but days like today when the co-workers are extra obnoxious and I have NOTHING going on make it difficult.

    Chin is officially going UP!

p.s. Danie I took a sick day on Monday lol! It made it WORSE because I so enjoyed my lazy time and was not at all looking forward to coming back!

  • Hang in there Rach!  Just take deep breaths whenever you feel like screaming
