Need your help with party planning

So, this June will be Richard's 30th b-day.  Yikes!  After my post about the family thing, I emailed his cousin and aunt (one like a sis to him and the other like a mom to him) and asked if they would help with the planning.  They said yes Big Smile, not like they would say no.

So far this is what I have planned.  There is a park that is in between the city we and my family live in and the city where most of his family lives.  I figured a halfway point would be nice.  They have a gazebo area that we can rent for $114, not bad.  We can try to just show up the day of and try to get the spot, but I don't want to risk doing that and finding out that someone already reserved it.  We're just going to BBQ, and have plenty of beer since his family likes to drink, one reason I love them...LOL.  I'd like to set up games like vollyball, baseball, horseshoes, etc.

Now for the theme.  Since he was born in 1981 and we're big 80's fans I figured why not do an 80's themed party.  With the party being at a park I know that we can't get too crazy with the 80's theme.  I've been trying to think of ideas for decor but am drawing a blank.  I googled 80's party and there's not much out there.  So, any ideas for my 80's themed party?  We are definately going to play some 80's music, you can count on that!

  • Sounds Fun!

Why not have everyone dress in the 80s and do hairstyles to help w/ your theme?

I'll have to bribe people to dress up in this style, but it would be so much fun if they did.  I'm going to buy a hair crimper so I can crimp my hair.

Great idea.  I wonder if I can find a large MC Hammer cutout?

  • If you're doing 80's theme and volleyball...you should definitely do it Top Gun Style.

You can have food with themes from 80's movies? Breakfast club sandwich, St. Elmo's Fire Hot Wings etc.
