Who has directv?

For about a billion reasons we finally decided to give Cox the boot.  For one thing, it is soooo expensive (and I am planted firmly in the camp of "we don't need cable" but my husband disagrees so this expense is a burr up my @ss anyway), and the other is that the internet is dial up slow. Its like 1997 in my house and slow internet does not work well with the home depot and lowe's websites, yo.

Anyway, DH decided to switch cable/internet providers and decided on Directv. I have decided to completely stay out of this decision but I am curious...any thoughts?

Re: Who has directv?

  • We have Directv and LOVE it! I don't plan to change providers anytime soon; they have great customer service and my satellite doesn't go out everytime the wind blows.

  • We have Directv--no complaints here!
  • My parents had DirecTV for years before Dish gave us a better deal/channels - but they had no issues with DirecTV. They considered switching back when Dish got into all this drama with Fox and some of our channels got yanked...kinda wish they would go back.

  • Tacky question - how much do you all pay and what are you getting?  We are saving around $50 a month by switching to Directv and to be honest....I am not sure how that is possible.
  • I'm seriously not too sure (C makes the payment) but I think it is somewhere around $100/month-but we have 4 boxes, 1 with DVR and one of the biggest packages they have. I need to check and see if we can get a cheaper package since they have changed from 2 years ago. But it has been well worth the money each month.

  • We pay ~$80/month for 2 boxes and 1 DVR. We have one of the higher packages, but no movie channels.

Well. this is what he quoted me.  Sounds like he isn't confused. Good to know.  Thank you!

I am going to call and have them shut off 2 of our boxes and ours will go down. For whatever reason C though we had to have a box in each bedroom which is why we have 4 including the living room.
