Chill Pill

I'm in desperate need of one.  I kind of went off the handle this morning after getting clocked in the face with a bucket, on accident.  I feel so pmsy lately.  Bfing is still playing havoc on them so I never know if one is coming or what, but I feel like it a lot.  Any suggestions, or herbs or something I can take to help these moods/irritability?

Re: Chill Pill

  • My midwife always recommends the book Women's Bodies Women's Wisdom by Christianne Northrup.  I bet the Ankeny library would have it.

  • I took vitamin b12and st john's wort. I wish I could say they helped, but it didn't. I had lots of ppa and (reluctantly) saw my ob and started taking some meds. Good lord, I feel like myself again! I never realized how bad it really was. Just a thought-not that I think u need meds but I know once I started mine I felt like a normal person again.

  • There are various teas on the market for "mood lifting" -- essentially intended to improve depression-like symptoms.  Campbell's has a couple of types ... one is called "Cup of Sunshine."  It may be worth a try.  Packages state to contact physician if pregnant or breastfeeding.

Aside from a specific suggestion, I find that mornings are my vulnerable times (for moods), and if something irritates me, I'm not as resilient.  I think, too, with BF'ing, it is exhausting, so with that and the hormones whacking out, it makes sense why you are feeling this way.  Frustrating :(   I hope the day has improved for you.

  • I'm sorry :(  I wonder if part of it is seasonal?  The new weather will help, I'm sure.  Once you can easily get the boys out and about you will feel a little relief.   But if not, there is no shame in reaching out to talk to someone about your stressors.
