Vacationing with cloth vs. disposable diapers
Hi,
We have the opportunity to go to Washington DC for a week in May. We use cloth diapers but we wash about 3-4 times a week. Have you traveled using cloth diapers? If so, did you stay in a hotel with a washer/dryer?
If you have used disposable diapers while vacationing, what brand did you like and why. We are leaning towards doing disposable diapers on the trip. What are the best/cheapest brand and how do I know what size to get for Davan? (do they go by weight or just the #s?) Also, same with wipes. We use cloth wipes so again, I don't know what brand to use on this trip.
Thanks for any help you can provide.
Jen
Re: Vacationing with cloth vs. disposable diapers
I think we've usually used Luvs diapers & swear by the Up & Up (Target) wipes. Those are the only disposable wipes I like.
Have a great vacay!
We've only done one trip so far that was 3 days, 2 nights, so we were able to do cloth and just do laundry as soon as we got home. If we were going to be gone longer and not have any free laundry access I would definitely go disposable.
We like Huggies and the Target brand diapers. For wipes, I also like Target's or Pampers unscented. I hate Huggies wipes. They seem to tear like newspaper.
We only vacation with CDs if we are driving. We would need an entire suitcase for all of her CD stuff so they never fly with us :-(
We use Target brand (Up and Up) dipes and they work really well for us. We also use the Up and Up wipes (sensitive formula).
Have fun on your trip!

We've spent the last two Christmas' in Idaho and use disposables every year. It's so much easier than searching for a washer and dryer.
We typically use Costco brand diapers or whatever I have the best coupon for.
Have you heard of Flip diapers? I just saw this post from one of the blogs I follow:

We have a large stash of diapers so we only need to wash 1-2 times per week. Having said that, when we vacation we:
- use cloth and take our extra large wet bag.
- I either take enough that I don't have to wash, or we stay at a vacation house (which is what we normally do VRBO or other because it's the same cost a lot of times as a hotel for an extended period of time - and there will be washer/dryer) or we stay at a family friendly hotel such as residence inn (because we like to have a separate bedroom for our DS) and they also have a washer/dryer.
- I will note that often times hotel washers do not clean nearly as well as home washer and are more likely to cause build-up. So I only use them as a method to 'rinse' out the diapers before putting in the luggage (feel bad for TSA haha).
- in recent months as he has gotten older we have switched to pull ups and prior when we did use use disposable we used Seventh Generation. Just look on the package for the right size based on weight of child.
- we also used cloth wipes but when we travel and more so today we use disposable wipes, again Seventh Generation.
