Golf Courses?

Hey ladies!  Normally I'm a TK poster, but I thought I would head over here for some suggestions.  DH and I are looking to get someone a round of golf at a nice course as a gift.  We're not golfers and we don't have the slightest idea where to go.  Where are the nicest places to golf in the greater Toledo area that you don't have to be a member of?

Re: Golf Courses?

  • Hello!!

    DH is an avid golfer.

He likes and plays mostly at Maple Grove (it's on Secor, just over the line into Michigan).  It's a par 3 and he and his friends mostly play there 9 times out of ten.  I've walked the course with him and it's really a great fun short course.

He also likes Tameron, and Bedford Hills.

He's played at Maumee Bay State Park, and a few courses on the east side but I can't remember the names but he wasn't impressed.

They also play Sandwedge up in MI, but it's really a "ok let's wake up early on Sunday AM and get some golf in and hopefully we don't loose too many balls" course. :)

  • If you're looking for something a little nicer, I'd go with Bedford Hills, Heatherdowns CC, Fallen Timbers, or even South Toledo.

There are a ton of courses around, but those are some of the nicer public courses I can think of off-hand. :)

Oh, and feel free to post over here more often! :)

  • Thank you so much for the suggestions!  We're clueless.

And Merin, maybe I will lurk over here a little bit... I suppose it's about time!

It's been reeeeally dead around here lately, which stinks, but it's an awesome group of ladies to chat with!! :):)

  • Hi!  We used to live right near Heatherdowns CC and DH would play there sometimes.  Said he liked it, and my husband's kind of a picky-pants when it comes to golf courses, lol.

  • if you want something really nice, get them a gift cert. to the Legacy.  It's just up in Michigan.  My parents got DH and gift card for there for Christmas and he's been itching to use it!

Maumee Bay is nice, but pretty challenging.

Whiteford (I think that's what it is) is nice.  It has 4 different courses to choose from!
