HI!

So. work sucks.  I'll spare you all the gory details, but let's just say my job changes pretty much every day. Which means I get no free time anymore... which means I miss you ladies.

So, tell me what's new.  I have no energy to make a poll, so can we just chit chat? Any good gossip you want to spill but you can't tell anyone IRL? Any super exciting things going on in anyone's life these days?

Re: HI!

  • STEPH!! You've been MIA lately missy. Well, at least it's good that you're busy at work.  I'm still job searching so that I can find something more challenging myself.

    Good gossip? Hmm....

My dad is driving me up the wall. But that's nothing new. He's just a lonely man in search for a better life. I wish I could do more for him, but as it is, he's kinda clingy and emotionally abusive sometimes so it's not the best to encourage him to call/text/email me 4 or more times a day.  Honestly, more than once a week is too much from him.  He's moving literally to the opposite side of the county (florida) soon though so YAAAAAAY!!!!  Honestly, he can't keep using my sister and me the way that he has been for the past year and a half - it's dragging us down with him and is totally damaging to our relationship.

Well, that's not gossip, but it's what came out...

Anyone read any good books lately??  Steph, didn't I have you reading that Hunger Games series? That seems like ages ago though. Anything new with you?

  • Yes! I read the Hunger Games series awhile ago. I loved it... well, I loved the first two books. Mockingjay kind of sucked, and it was an extremely disappointing ending to a series like that.  I feel like the author kind of just gave up at the end of the story.  Oh well.  Have you read any other good books lately?

I'm just about to start Beyond the Western Sun... it's actually written by one of the girls on SB!  I'm super excited.  I'll let you know how it is when I finish.

ETA: hm. It won't let me link the title, but here you go: http://www.amazon.com/Beyond-Western-Sun-Kristina-Circelli/dp/0615402704/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1300400466&sr=8-1

I need a new job is what I've decided.  I'd love to just up and move somewhere totally new.  H is completely on board with the idea as well; we just need to find two jobs in the same new area ;)  We're thinking about a buying a house too, so we really need to figure out what we want to do with our lives.  Easier said than done, huh?

Aaahhh!! I completely agree!!  I mean, the characters were so...well, out of character in that book! And it was kinda lame and not nearly as interesting as the first two.

But nope, no other really interesting books since then. Well, I did read Eat, Pray, Love and enjoyed that. But you probably already read that.

Love your plans!  I kinda want to live out of Seattle for a while. H and I know that Seattle is where we want to ultimately end up, but I've already lived here all my life and would love to up and move elsewhere. We're talking about moving to the east coast in 2 years, so we'll see. Where would you like to live?

  • Actually, I haven't read Eat, Pray, Love.  I've tried it a few times, but never really got into it.  I think I might have a touch of reading ADD lately.  I blame the time I spend on the computer and the fact that I'm multi-tasking all day at work.  It makes me feel like I'm not doing enough when I'm reading.... like I need to be doing something else at the same time.  Which sucks, a lot. I miss reading.  I might go back and read the HP series or something, just to get in the mindset again :) That sounds so pathetic, but it's true.

Where do I want to live? No clue. I agree with you though- H and I know we ultimately want to end up back in the Midwest, if not Minneapolis/St Paul area.  I just can't survive without my four seasons.  But until we have kids? I'm up for anything. H has tossed around the idea of even moving to London for a few years? It's a fun dream; sadly, though, I doubt it'll actually happen.  Unfortunately, we're both way too practical to be able to up and move like that.  We might look at like Colorado though?

  • I've been reading (OK, listening when I'm out walking the pup) to the Hunger Games.  Just finished the first one and am now on the second.  So good!!  It makes me want to walk the dog longer cause I want to keep listening to hear what's going to happen!

(and, for the record - I do read a lot.  I just listen to audiobooks when I'm driving long distances or doing something walking to keep me from getting bored).

  • Nothing much to gossip over here! I'm an old boring lady now I guess.

I am waiting for my SIL to have her baby (due on Monday) and they don't know what it is so I can't wait to find out!! She and I haven't always gotten along but it has been much better since last summer so I am very glad about that.

My cat had to be put down a month ago already and I miss him so much! Just thinking about it makes me want to cry still :(

I'm sorry to hear about your cat.  It's always hard losing a pet.  :(

  • Hi everybody!

No real gossip here... I'm sure I've bragged already, but I started my new job this week and it's going really great.  I have such high hopes for it!  My only complaint so far is that the two girls on my team like to eat lunch at their desks... I get bored with that real quick.  So hopefully they'll come around to eating together, at least sometimes, to help break up the day!

Also, on my first day, someone told my manager they thought it was "bring your kid to work" day when they saw me heading toward the restroom - apparently I look 12, even when I am wearing business casual!

  • Sorry your job isn't going well Steph.  How exciting to plan moving to a new place!  Do y'all have any certain cities in mind that you'd like to go to?  Keep us posted on everything.

No major gossip here.  FIl & MIL are back from their 3 month vacation in Florida.  I hope this means that her drama doesn't start up again.  I haven't seen them since they've been back because of my work schedule.  I'm stalling as long as I can...hee hee!  Meanwhile, I really miss my family and wish we could find time to drive down to Houston to see them.  Maybe next month we can find a weekend to go.

I'm not loving the hours of my new job.  Everything else about it is just fine, the work, the people, etc.  It's just working 12 hour nights that is kicking my tail.  Hopefully I won't have to do it (nights) for too long.
