A few words of advice;
1) Know what the company you are calling actually does.
2) Know how to pronounce the company name. If possible do a little leg work and know WHO you want to speak with and how to pronounce their name and if it is a name that could be male or female..know which it is
3) dont be short, rude or abrasive with the person who answers the phone. They are the one you have to get past FIRST
4) state the nature of your call
I am so freeking tired of people calling and having no clue what our company does,because many times there is no correlation between what they offer and waht we do. Wasted call
They mis prnounce my boss's name ( which is a male or female name) and then pretend they are friends of hers ( my boss is a male).

Re: to those who make "cold calls" on the phone
I had one of these calls today actually. They mispronounced my boss's name (it's a common name, too, like John Smith), were incredibly rude, and asked me to repeat myself over and over again since they were talking to some people in the background.
I told them we were not interested and hung up.
I have some questions. When is the best time to call? I wouldn't want to call first thing and I wouldn't want to call at lunch or the last minute during the day. And how would you find out how to pronounce the name?
